I should be getting my bumper and sliders in this week from brute force fab. Debating on whether i should paint them myself or have them powder coated. What do you guys think?

Aiming all my lights tonight. Put spacers to raise the rounds up so they give off more light.

I finally got my high clearance bumper in from Brute Force fabrications. I got a high clearance spare tire swing out rear bumper. Took a while to come in but well worth the wait. The build quality is incredible. Prepped and painted just the bumper. I could only do one part at a time because i only have two saw horses :)

First things first..... get some liquid encouragement going on.

    Remove the bumper and hitch

    Tape it up

    Make you a little mark.....

And as they say..... C'est La Vie!!!

The cut came out pretty straight. Filed it and painted it.

Thanks dude. Billy does grey work. Its worth the wait. i haven't gotten a front bumper yet. i think i am going to try my hand at welding one up for myself. I just want a basic pre runner style bumper just for more clearance.

Yep definitely me unfortunately. Went mountain biking with a friend of mine, which in south louisiana in August is a terrible idea btw, and afterward we decided to go ride down some trails. We were not looking for any trouble or anything as we were both exhausted, we had the bikes mounted to the top of the truck, and i didn't have any of my recovery gear...... bad idea. Picked the most open trail we can find and start put putting down the trail. We cae across a couple muddy spots that my truck handled more than fine in 2wd. Then we cam across this wet washed out sandy spot so i decided to put it in 4 hi just for good measure and to be on the safe side. So we proceed and low and behold my truck sinks to the frame instantly....... no traction what so ever. He got out and scoped out the scene and i put it in 4 lo. So I'm spinning all 4 tires turning the wheel left and right and my truck isn't even budging. So much so that i second guessed whether i was even in gear or not. Luckily I'm a member of Bayou State Land cruiser association in lafayette and was able to get a member out there within an hour or two. He pulls me out and i was so grateful. He had a modded out little 4runner with mud tires and a winch. Pulled me out within 15 min or so. Well as I'm gathering myself after he pulls me out, I hear him say from the window in his runner "this is why you buy a 4runner" and hauls off right into the quick sand that he pulled me out of..... he rocks back and forth back and forth and by the time is all said and done he is stuck worse than i was and is up to his headlights in this soft wet sand...... The next hour and a half we spent pulling him out. Long day dudes.....

Lol wow what a dumb move. I saw the pics and yea he may have had a little better traction with the tires but that wasn't smart. I know nothin about his vehicle and I'm not trying to bash him but that stuff is like quick sand. I'm don't remember the pic and he took them down but Iid say he maybe woulda made it with cut boggers lol

Lol posted pics right as I was writing
Yea maybe if he had better tires but hey makes for a good story to tell! As long as nothing is too damaged lol

Nah that dude was super cool! Complete stranger too and he drove out in to the woods to help me out. It was just funny bc he got stuckin the same mud hole that i had got stuck in.

His truck was rad. 20XX 4 runner, tube bumper/winch combo, 285/75r16 mud tires (forgot the brand/model), Bilstien suspension lift, LED lights everywhere, roof rack, cb..... IT was tight but the sand pit was exactly like you said......"QUICK SAND"!!!! Id never had any experience with quick sand, nor did i know that it existed in Louisiana. The top was sort of crusted over moist sand and then once I broke through that layer it was all over. I am 6'3" and i sunk up to my thigh (see Picture) in sand. My truck didnt stand a chance.

yea man that doesnt really look like south lousiaiana just because of the color of the dirt but if you go mid/ north louisiana that shit is everywhere. almost lost a fourwheeler at our old deer lease. stuff is bad. make sure to clean that stuff off realllllllll good because you will start to hear squeeking soon enough lol
and it dries like cement. PITA

Yea the next day was not fun. I had the whole truck up on jack stands with all the wheels off, removed the calipers and cleaned them out, lost a couple wheel weights so my shit has to go in the shop tomorrow to get all balanced once again. Mudding isn't worth it dude. Offroading is awesome.... mud is not fun. But because my truck is going into the shop i am taking advantage and having a bunch of work done while its there. BC if its going to be there for an hour it may as well be there all day. Having sliders welded on (been putting that off), OEM cruise control installed, exhaust chopped and dumped, wheels balanced, and whatever else i can think of when i go in the morning.
