Anyone riding one of these? I’m looking at a leftover 2018 Duke 390. I know about some reliability issues with them but it hasn’t scared me away(neither has owning a 3rd gen and being on this forum!). Just wondering how everyone else riding a KTM is getting along!

I have a 08 990 SD and I am loving it. It rides great has personality and love the low end torque.

Mine has 8k on it and I only had one time an overheating issue, because I think the thermostat did not switch on the fan when it was way too hot outside.
But I also have to say that I am somewhat of a KTM fanboy.
Another nice feature (at least for me) is that they are still really unique in the US and not a everyday kinda bike, this is the absolute opposite to Europe tho.

Nice! I didn’t pull the trigger because we decided to build a house. Next spring, one will be mine.

I always wanted a 990. I rode a buddies bike quite a bit and it was about even on roll-ons with my 1250 Bandit which was irritating. :annoyed:

I had the Duke II. (640 single) Really fun bike. I had the Achropovich full system. Some say it was louder than my racebike! Bike had a lot of problems though. Things were always breaking. I actually had 2 header pipes because they kept cracking so, one would be at the welders and the other on the bike and so on.

Has anyone ridden the KTM 790 model 2019+? Aka the Scalpel. Dying to ride one, think it would be the perfect street and track bike.
Older thread, but heard the 2018+ 390 motor was re-engineered and should last longer than the original 390 motor in the previous few years which did pop after so many miles.

Just picked up a 2109 790 a few weeks ago but I've only been out a couple of times due to weather.

I got out for an hour ride last week and had a blast. Ran through some country back roads and was amazed how easy this thing tips in. I've run these same roads with my 2106 675 street triple; to my memory the street now feels heavy and "truck like" at turn in.

It really is an amazing little bike. It's also the first parallel twin that I've owned and KTM has done a great job making it think it's a V-twin. Love the intake sound of my street triple but the 790 will probably be my go to bike for local/weekend trips. Just wish they had added the cruise control that the 790 ADV comes with.
