I made my first set of Bed Stiffeners some 2 1/2 years ago; this was pretty much my first welding project when I was learning to MIG weld for the first time.

    20211214_183609.jpg

    20220114_143553.jpg

They weren't even for me as they were for another member. Two of them actually.

    So what are they for?

When you apply weight to your bed, whether it be a roof rack or camper shell, you have introduced a dynamic load. Static weight, or a static load is one thing, but that force multiplies when you drive your vehicle.

The problem? Your bed begins to bow.

    PXL_20211027_030906118.jpg

Sometimes it's subtle, other times it's really bad. If you trek off road at all it can become such an issue that your tail gate becomes hard to operate.

    The solution? Bed stiffeners!

    PXL_20211108_000218413.jpg

Problem is though, they're over $140 AT LEAST! And that's before shipping and taxes!

Fast forward to now and I introduce to you, The Stiffies!

With the ability to reproduce a quality part all for a lot less than others, I wanted to offer the 1st Gen community an affordable option they can install (or even weld) on their own -

I've done a trial run using both 10 gauge and 3/16" and can safely say that 10 gauge is more than enough for most!

If you'd prefer a set in 3/16" please allow for longer lead times as I don't often stock 3/16"; inquire for pricing via PM.

    Pricing is as follows -

    NO LONGER AVAILABLE

*Not doing welded at this time* shipped USPS flat rate for a welded set in 10 gauge

These ship in raw steel and wiped down in acetone, I can primer if requested but will need to allow for drying time before shipping

To keep prices low, I am not providing hardware due to varying factors from one vehicle to another. Most common choice is M10x20mm but M8 x 15mm (6) with M10 x 15mm (4) has worked as well.

If you have a slide out drawer or other aftermarket accessories that would hinder installation, please reach out and I can customize it to your desire at additional no charge

Expect 2-week turnaround unless I have a set on hand, then they ship next day

    Weld It Yourself

*This design is based around one found online and has been modified to fit your 1st Gen; it has also been modified to be stronger (longer leg support) and bolt holes oriented to clear behind your tail light*

I'd buy them, but damn, that's a lot of time/work to clean those welds...

I know, that's why I'd rather offer a cheaper set(s) if I leave the welds as-is. Who doesn't like ugly welds?

They don't interfere with functionality though.

Yep! I had interest already in another thread, which is why I cut several extras.

I've got 1 set in 10 gauge ready to ship tomorrow, already has a coat of primer.

    Thanks!

Man, they went quick. I need to catch up on a few more but I've been busy working on a skid plate for a friend, a mounting platform for a huge amp in another LC, a sign, and a skid plate for myself.

Due to limited timing I should be able to knock these out over the weekend. Local customer order came through for a large custom panel.

I'll cut some DIY in the next day or two in 10 gauge if you'd like.

I still have plenty of steel left over.
