As long as you're out with nearly any one of us in the area, there should be enough tools to take your truck apart. Getting it back together is a different story lol

I went the “crank it with a punch” method today and raised it a bit. Let me tell you, lubing the threads makes all the difference in the world...

I started with 1/2” of threads on the driver and 1/4” on the passenger

Ended with 1 1/4” on the driver and 1 1/8” on the passenger.

It took it up 1 1/8” from previous measurements. Granted, springs may have settled since initial install. I’m not going to measure the damn thing every day...

    “Stock” with armor:
    - DF: 19 7/8”
    - PF: 20 1/4”

    After install:
    - DF: 21 1/8”
    - PF: 21 1/8”

    After adjustment:
    - DF: 22 1/4”
    - PF: 22 1/4”

Before and after pictures and current CV angles:

Do we have those around here?

I kinda want to take it up more... like another 1/2” at least. CVs can take it but I’m not sure I want to lose out on droop travel.

Not sure where to jump it here, maybe mob that dip at the entrance of Lowes?? Haha
Keep cranking until you're happy. You'll feel the clunk when you've gone too high

I talked to ADS and they said not to take it up much further. I’ll leave it as is. I’m pretty happy with how it sits if the damn RXTs would come down to what Icon says.

    Icon: setting 2, 2.25”
    My truck: 3”

I’ve got some sand bags totaling 140lbs back there to help break things in. It might come down with time

By “feel the clunk” you mean the startlingly loud BANG when topping out?

Yeah, I’ve got that... I prob should have gone with the 700lb spring for less preload and retaining more down travel. I think I underestimated how much this armor weighs. That said, I’m only up ~2.25” over stock which should be easily controllable by these shocks.

Of course, I’m a novice at all this and am learning so I’m sure my understanding is grossly out of whack with reality

Could also be because the JBA UCAs allow more down travel then the stocks did, so I never topped out the stock coils?

Nah, it was a clunk for me (Toytec). How far out is that armor? You'll have to adjust again any way when you install so may as well adjust out clunk/bang now. Hope you dont have something else going on ?? Like the UBJs

i'm not sure what it is, to be honest. I think it's the coilover topping out. It's very loud, and very jarring. What else would it be or what can I check for? Nothing is interfering at full droop. seems to happen on the passenger side and not driver, which is also odd because I have less preload over there.

My armor probably adds up to 350lbs or thereabouts. According to Accutune and Filthy Motorsports (who I respect and agree with) 600lb-650lb springs for my truck and the armor I have is perfect (up to 400lbs added weight and I have probably 350lbs). https://accutuneoffroad.com/shock_selection/ I should easily be able to achieve 2.0-2.5" lift (I'm at 2.25") with my setup.

I also checked with ADS on the preload I have, making sure it wasn't too much. Talking with Tyler at ADS, he told me to measure my installed spring length (tires off ground, spring fully extended) and subtract 6.61" for the block height (whatever what is). If my measurement was 4.625" or more I am within the operating range of the coilovers. My measurements were 5.14" and 5.28." My bet is the UCAs i put on are just allowing significantly more down travel than stock and it's allowing the coils to top out harshly.

any chance i'm mis-diagnosing and it's something like a body mount bushing gone bad? it was harsh and felt like the suspension but at the time I wasn't anticipating it and didn't really pay attention to everything going on

@rdpoe you should hear my shocks top out....

Supposedly the Icons and kings have a foam bump stop for top-out protection, but they thunkathunka.

See if ADS has any top out protec?

I mean, it was a fucking BANG that made my wife jump and almost scream. It was loud, and quite a harsh feeling.

What were you doing when it went bang? Has it happened more than once? Heard mine when I would come off a speed bump or dip in the road etc. Clunk!!
