Similar situation, only happened yesterday when coming off a rock or finding an unexpected pothole in a puddle. Basically when the wheel would drop substantially it’s like there was no damping on the way down. The spring just slammed it into the end of the travel. It was no “clunk.” It was a very harsh and jarring bang

I wasn’t even driving “spiritedly.” I was going down Fixer-Leeco with my wife and it scared the shit out of both of us. Having never been down the road I was taking it pretty easy.

We went to Old Fincastle after that and I cranked the coils stiff to try to change things up. It seemed to help a bit, but then the compression was stiffer than I wanted and I still topped the shocks out at least one more time.

I literally never had this happen with the stock components

Yeah, I’ll be calling them tomorrow. I’ve been emailing Tyler at ADS prior to this so hopefully he can take some time to walk things through with me. I checked all the bolts etc for something loose but nothing has budged. Further, it only happened on fully extension so it’s not a daily occurrence.

Could the JBA control arms be giving more travel than the shocks have? Even if I lessen the pre-load I would still have the same problem, just further to go before the bang.

Possible yes, sort of. The UBJ is no longer the limiting point of down travel. You also have poly UCA and LCA bushings which give free movement through the range if travel. Heavier springs pushing down too. Possible the rebound valving got screwed up?? Where did you get these, Acutune? Or are you just reading info from them. Not sure but custom valving could be a factor, I've done that wrong on my rears once and it made for a funny racetruck experience.

I was just quoting Accutune, and I hope the valving didn’t get screwed up from ADS.

I just need to sleep on it at this point instead of being frustrated. I’ll talk to ADS tomorrow and try to get some info on the valving and setup for my truck. I’m sure it will all work out it’s just disappointing to drop a couple grand in the front alone and have this issue

I'm sure the valving is correct from ADS, I just wasn't sure if you had Accutune re-valve them or something. I'll be available weekday mornings if you want me to take a look, should be around this weekend also.

    I appreciate the offer

Maybe this weekend, I want to take it out again and get a second opinion on what’s happening. Also want to do it without my wife in the truck as that’s another whole thing...

Sway bar or uca hitting the coil at extension? Cam bolts on the lower may be moving more than they should and cause it.

Sway bar is permanently re-located to my basement and nothing is interfering at full droop. I didn’t get to check the cam bolts but they also weren’t touched when doing the install. Of course this doesn’t eliminate the possibility. What’s a good way to check this option?

Forgot you have OEM LCA bushings, that will work in your favor for this issue. Unless you flattened an alignment tab your OK with cam bolts, your alignment would be wack otherwise.

I mean, could a bad alignment be the cause? Seems unlikely but I guess I need to consider everything. No tabs are bent

Took it off and sending it back to ADS to get retrofitted with their new top out protection. Apparently they started shipping all their EXT coil overs with it this week. This and 700lb springs and should be back in time for Meat Sweats if I can get away.

Oh man, it’s embarrassing. The front looks like a Camry right now. I’m going to have to park with the front wheels on the curb at work so people don’t laugh

It was certainly easier the second time around. I had it all done and packaged up to send back in an hour and a half. Thanks for giving me some pointers at @Bandido house
