I'm fairly new to the Tacoma scene, I live in Georgetown KY. Looking for some fairly easy off road trails to get the truck dirty and have fun with the family. Any recommendations? It's a 2010 DCSB off road with Baja suspension and 265/75 KO2s, pelfry skids/etc. Nothing too fancy, but not dead stock. Thanks!

You just missed the Rush meet 2 weeks back. It's a good place to wheel for you, just stay off the black and red trails if you go alone. There are other parks closer to your area as well.
Red River Gorge is somewhere we all love to wheel! It's free and always a surprise around every tree and turn, don't go there alone!

Yep, looking to start out low risk... Not wanting to get stuck or break things until the family gets hooked and I get a budget for upgrades. ;) We do more mountain biking than motorized off road (my wife raced downhill..) so using the Taco to get to good MTB trails could have some positives.

Far as those types of trails, I'm not sure where to ride in the state. Spent some time at North and South Bend Rail Trails in WV.
I'm sure there are places in the Gorge, though.

Good MTB trails at Parklands of Floyds Fork in Jefferson County (Louisville)

After our PM I thought of something else....google Hollerwood, Boneyard Hollow, and Dirty Turtle. Off road parks.... (2 not officially open yet....one maybe never)

Any of the KAT (Kentucky Adventure Tour) minus the hard sections, and most of the DBBB (Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway) minus the one hard section up the center labeled "narrows" and "ledges". Great place to stretch the 4x4 legs even stock and good primative camping at s-tree in McKee (with pit toilets).

Steer clear of Walker Creek and the Narrows. I'm sure it's not even as wide now, as it was back in June. It was really sketch then!
We jumped off and went out Cowan Creek, iirc. Which was FOREVER long due to trees n whatnot.

I ride MTB, also. Paradise is called Windrock in Knoxville, TN. Great DH scene (Neko Mullaly built trails) and best OHV trails in the country

True, last time I was on it was probably 2 years ago. I saw some pictures this year and it was very washed out. It's a shame, it was a really cool road and I want another chance to conquer the ledges. Locals said "you need lockers and 35's" but I really just needed some more wheel time I think.

I really need to get down to Windrock! I always wind up wanting to go during ATR (and don't like people and traffic) so I can the idea.

Yeah generally Fall time is bonkers between wheeling and the MTB scene every weekend. If you can stand the cold winter riding is dope though!

Hm, I prefer camping in the cold. Wasn't sure if they closed over the winter like Uwharrie does.

We took a group of 15 through Walker Creek in late July. It's tight. You will get pinstripes. It isn't easy but we had a couple stock vehicles (with 31s) that made it. Ledges is all about taking the right lines...... and a locker or two. Passible but ya better know what you're doing or it seems to be intimidating. I made it with 33"'s. Big group went through this past Sunday. (I was with a different group...got in the wrong line when we formed up the groups...)

Damage potential ranges from possible to probable..

Ledges is trickier going downhill than it is going UP.

In April, we had 2 guys make it up the ledges a good bit before coming back down. You 100% need sliders and skids. They were on 285 and 305 or 315 tires, not sure if they used their lockers or not. @Jibbs and @presta24

It's not even worth the risk of fucking up someone's truck with stock tires and no armor. Right lines my ass.

I'll tell the other 14 that was with me in August and the 32 that went up Sunday. They seemed to be less impressed. Right line they are not difficult.

That first ledge is the easier part. It gets pretty hairy once you are past that spot. Body damage if you aren't carefull
