Hey, I just received my KYB SR4464 &3 replacements. Thief replacements have a 3/4-in silver cap at the top that current shocks do not have. I just shot kyb a message but does anybody know what that extra plate is? I just want to make sure I have the right replacement before I take these off.
    Thanks

I sure do and I figured it out. The "K" and the product number means that it is a leveling shock/coil. I got these at such a good price from Rock Auto, I'm going to keep them and level my 2nd gen Tacoma a bit. I looked them over and they seem to be legit genuine KYB parts. From what I understand, I can just pull and replace these and not replace the other equipment. I recently replaced my upper and lower control arms as well as sway bar links. My tie rod ends are in great shape. Does anybody recommend disconnecting control arms sway bar links? If anybody can tell me something I'm missing in this job it would be appreciated.

    Welcome aboard @Gabericks1

I’m looking for rear shocks and forgot to check rock. Nothing fancy, just want to get the rear leafs dampened. Feels like it hops around a bit when both rear tires hit a bump.o_O

Not sure, but might be worth mentioning...
Lift/jack both sides of the truck, not just the side you are working on.

    Yeah.
You will need to disconnect the sway bar and get it out of the way to get the coilovers in. You will likely have to pry down on the lower control arm to get the bottom into the bucket, and having someone help to get the bolt in may be necessary. Alternatively, you can loosen the LCA bolts and let it drop -- you will need an alignment anyway. Or disconnect the spindle from the UCA ball joint.
