For you guys replacing the top hats during shock replacement - on the old, removed OEM top hat which you are discarding, did the piston rod throughhole diameter become larger than the hole of the KYB replacement top-hat and did the old rubber components become noticeably worn or degraded? So was the old removed top-hat worn in any way.

In addition to the convenience of pre-assembling the replacement coilovers (ie assuming replacement shocks, springs, top-hats, and nuts are purchased) on your own time prior to uninstalling anything from the vehicle, I'm trying to justify purchasing replacement top-hats in the event I finally get my 2" lift installed this summer. If these top hats wear over time, it makes sense to me just to replace them if your doing a lift on a higher mileage vehicle.

BTW, I've read in a few different places elsewhere that the Toyota OEM top hats are made by KYB. These likely are just placed into the nice Toyota OEM box/bag and assigned an OEM part number.
