So on the 1.75" round bars, do you need to glue them on or do they snap into place snugly?

Will yours roll around your bars if you slide the RTT over them? For example, I usually have to put my RTT on by myself. So once I muscle it up on the tailgate, I grab the bottom and slide it up into place. That's why I wanted these because it is killing my powder coating. I was just curious if they grip well "as is". I'm sure whatever double side tape I use will melt to shit or lose its stick after a summer of two in Phoenix.

Well, I will give it a try. I've talked to Hunter and he's going to kick out some 1.5" diameter by 12" product in the near future for me. Upon receipt, I'll see about getting some 3M VBH tape and see how that works out.

I use super tacky and strong 3M tape. I wish I knew what exactly it was, but I just have the roll and not the box it came in. They have held up through 95+ and now 20 degree temps. They have not last their gluey feeling at all.

I got to use mine the other day and they worked quite well. A buddy of mine used some kind of heat bar thingy to put a bend in the kydex and now they snap into place pretty solid and don't spin easily. The only problem now is that my attachment bolts are now a little short. They still bolt into the flat bar bottom piece, but there is barely enough thread available to get both nuts on.

If you click on the pic and view the full resolution, you can get a good view of the protectors.

These are great and I'm glad I got in on it when the vendor was making them. I wonder why he stopped offering them. I'd think with a little advertising, they'd sell pretty well.
