I did barely tap the one installed the other day on the street on a decent bump. I heard it make noise, but didn't feel it at all, lol

    Hello,
I just saw this thread. Super inspiring, you're truck is really well done. I live in Prescott and work in Sedona, and see a lot of familiar places in your pics . I have an 09' DCSB and I just ordered Allpro Expo's and Icon 2.5 ext travel's RR's front and rear, along with Icons bump kit (took advantage of SDHQ's black friday sale) and I just wanted to see if you have any friendly advice before I install it all. i.e.. gusseted spindles, cam tabs etc..? I plan on doing most or all of these things but I was mainly wondering if you had any that would be crucial to do right away before I install it all?

Anyway, awesome build man, keep it up.

Thanks man, she's getting there... always more stuff to fix/break/repeat hah. That should be a sweet setup, the rear on my truck rides really nice.

Installing the rear air bumps is a serious PITA. Honestly if you have the spare cash... or unless you have air tools... I'd probably just have a shop remove the stock strike location (the four rivets on each side). After those are out, install is cake (unless the frame is bent like mine LOL).
    Tools I used:
    - Dewalt Drill
    - Dewalt metal bit set
    - Dremel with plenty of cutting wheels
    - Osculating tool with metal cutting bits (this was actually the way to go with no air chisel IMO)
    - Deadblow hammer and chisel bits
    - Prybar
    - Beer/Whiskey
Also... if you have the U-bolt flip kit (I have the AllPro kit), you will need the Icon flip kit strike plate/bracket replacement up top. I used the U-bolts from my allpro kit with them.

Definitely get the cam tabs, gusset the spindles, and all that re-enforcement. I will be doing mine when I get some free cash and time. I have a lifetime alignment at firestone so... I'm not that worried about it ;) One nice thing about the spindle not being gusseted though... it creates a good failure point (something to think about).

Also, you'll need UCA's at least if you don't already have them. I also highly recommend dropping some cash on some new stock length lowers from Total Chaos or where-ever you prefer. The stock ones are complete crap.

Also, some extended length stainless steel lines are a good idea with the additional droop. As well, be careful not to rip the wheel speed sensor wires like I did ;)

Good luck with the install man, you'll love it. It's pretty easy to do overall.

    Awesome, thanks.

I did order the Icon strike plates and u-bolts as well as some brake line extensions. I do not have any air tools and I was definitely curious as to how much grief those rivets were gonna give me (they do look like they are gonna be a bunch of assholes :( ). I have a close friend who is damn good with a welder so I'll probably have him weld up the spindles and cam tab gussets for me because SDHQ said it's probably about a 4 hour job for each of those and this little project has already damn near got me on a Top Ramen strictly diet :). I plan on getting some UCA's before install for sure but I'm still having a hard time deciding which ones. I like the reputation of both TC and Icon so it's pretty much down to those 2. I like the look of the TC's better but the uniball cover on the Icon is pretty enticing as well. I would like to minimize noise as much as possible if I can. If you have any input on this component I'm all ears. As far as a LCA; yup I agree with you, the TC's are badass but I just don't have the scratch right now to throw down on them, hopefully in the near future.

Just go with what is cheaper on the uca. uniball replacement isn't hard to do for service.

also note... forget a quiet ride if you'll actually use her off-road. they get noisy quick, fix is turn up the radio or countless hours pulling stuff apart to degrease constantly lol.

also use superlube for the grease, good stuff the LT guys use

So I think Wednesday I'm going to try and squeeze in some mini-mod day stuff on the truck.

    - Repaint rear bumper, hi lift, sliders, front bumper
    - Clean/wax exterior
    - Construct a mount for the Arizona flag
    - Detail interior
    - Repaint some interior pieces
    - Maybe... do the satoshi.
    - Replace some missing bolts >.>

Awesome day of wheeling! Some gremlins left to iron out but Gypsy did well today. That Icon rear is so freaking amazingly smooth... I just might have to swap out for some CDC 2.5" Icons up front in the future ;)
