This is for a work van sorry to post here but i was hoping for a quick response. I did some research online but couldent find an awnser to this specific question. I bought a 12v led light off Amazon(like 2.4w/180 little leds) and just tapped it into the harness that plugs into the dome light. its working fine right now but is this gonna be ok? should i put somekind of fuse? should i wire it somewhere else? i was hoping to keep it like this i want it to work with the dome lights when the door opens...

    OME and worth every penny.
I'm no electrical guy but I think your ok IF the light is working properly and after being on for 10 minutes or so the wires are not getting warm. Not the ones you spliced into nor the light wires.
I think in a cargo van all the wires are exposed to the hand/eye, correct?

You'll be fine if you tapped after the fuse on that circuit. It's only 2.4 watts so you're adding only about 1.5 amps of load and most circuits are designed to exceed by a small amount from the factory (they never design and load a circuit to its max).

I hear you on the poor lighting in many vehicles. Changed all my interior light to LED in my Truck so I could see.

Someone had the nerve to turn the dimmer switch down when I turned 50 and now I wear reading glasses.
