Not only that, but they probably only spoke Spanish, could only post on Craigslist in Spanish, and would need buyers who would pay cash on the spot, which would also fit that demographic

 

I wonder what happened to the guy who paid cash for one of these.

He tries to go to the DMV to register it, it comes back stolen. Do the police show up? Does he just go home knowing he can never properly license this truck? Will the owner ever get it back, under normal circumstances?

 

He parts the vehicle out and gets his monies back

Here's a few things to keep in mind (unless your truck was stolen)

- This isn't news. One of their staffers had his Taco stolen, and they made it "news".
- This area of the country has the unique status of being one area where there are literally more registered cars than people in a small area. In fact only four STATES have as many registered cars as LA County alone. Orange county is similar with very high number of registered cars.
- Tacoma sells better than any other "small truck" so there are more of them, and finding one ring of thieves who stole a dozen isn't "news". It's just math.
- The top ten stolen vehicles in Orange County are all Hondas.

Local news really sucks. Lock your shit. Get insurance.
