Hi. First post here. I just bought a 2015 SR5 V6 4x4 Double Cab with the short bed. Before purchasing, I talked to the shop I usually use for ladder racks and they said they had the Kargo Master rack I was after and all I needed to mount it to the new rig was the rail adapter kit. I bought the truck. Called back to order the rack and they now say there is no adapter kit for the short bed. After talking to the guy for a bit he said we could either remove the bed liner caps and mount it that way or I could take the adapter kit to a fab shop and have them shorten it. The Kargo Master rack itself is fine. It's adjustable enough to work with the short bed. But the kit for the Tacoma rails is too long.

This sounds reasonable to me but I thought it'd be worth it to see if any of you guys have better ideas. I need to be able to carry ladders and sheet goods/lumber on the rack. I had a Kargo Master rack on my beloved ol' 78 SR5 longbed and it was a great rack (and a great truck).

Anything else I should be checking out?

    Thanks in advance.

Shorten it , there's nothing under the rail caps but sheet metal

Thanks for the input. I'll probably just have the adapter kit cut down.
