Anyone have a suggestion for a nice ladder rack for my new truck. I'm looking for something high quality that looks good too. Might use it for kayaks too.

Does it need to go over the cab? I have the Dissent Off Road bed rack, used it for my ladders, transporting lumber, and my camping needs (awning, maxtrax, kayak). It’s all aluminum and weighs about 45 lbs.

Thinking about these because they came with c clamps so you can put them on when needed.

Compare the racks on my new Tacoma versus my old Ford Ranger: a Prinsu rack versus a Kargo Master ladder rack.

Notice that the Kargo Master extends over the cab, and is attached by posts to the top of the bed. A similar arrangement would not have worked on the Tacoma, because the Leer cap covers (overlaps) the top of the bed. Kargo Master makes a version that attaches to the tracks on the cap, but the cantilevered weight over the cab would have put too much stress on the tracks and cap. So I was more or less forced to go with the Prinsu. To make it strictly equivalent, I would have had to add a Prinsu cab rack as well. That would have made the total cost of the Prinsu more than twice that of the Kargo Master. (Besides that, I would have had to drill holes in the roof of my new Tacoma, which I didn't want to do.)
