Had a trac rac when I had my 05 Trd off road and the thing was great. If I were to get one for my 16 it would be that brand for sure. It sits on the bed sides and also bolts into the Toyota track system so it's made strictly for the Tacoma instead of being a generic "midsize" truck rack. Good luck!

If it sits over the bed sides right behind the cab, yes it would interfere with how the rack sits and locks in.

^ oh that's a nice setup. The rack didn't work with the tool box I had but apparently you can get some brands to fit. I'd go with the setup above, that's great.

Thanks. It is a TracRac, with Tacoma toolbox mounts. The mounts have drilled and tapped holes to be able to bolt the box to. I trimmed some height and width off the rack to better follow the lines of the truck.
