I don't think anybody is expecting MESO to drop in and fix it. OP just needed to vent - rightfully so.

On this topic though, (and not asking you directly, just quoting bc you brought it up, and asking for sake of conversation) why doesn't TW have a post requirement for "official vendors?" I'd imagine if you're going to put your name behind someone and trust them as an official vendor on your site, there'd be an expectation that they're interacting with your members on a consistent basis. We've all seen vendors fall of the map, go radio silent, file bankruptcy, take customers money and run. Happens every year with a different fabricator, tuning groups come prey on members and contribute nothing, and LED vendors abused it so much, we can't even have them anymore. Am I alone in thinking vendors should have a post count expectation per month to keep the "official vendor" status?

And to clarify before MESO lap-sitters jump all over me, I'm not suggesting MESO is struggling and taking peoples' money. I'm suggesting he should interact with the community (like he used to, which is why everyone loves him) to keep his official vendor status.

 

I read that and immediately thought of a certain unofficial vendor that's on here daily, replying over and over with the same phrase:

Well I'm not proposing vendors wouldn't abuse any system in place, but "community involvement" should be the bare minimum in my lowly opinion for an "official vendor" status to a site that vows to collect no money for vendor advertisement. I most definitely see both sides of the coin, just thought itd be an interesting topic.

I’ve seen more official vendors ghost customers , file bankruptcy, and fuck members on here while having vendor status than I’ve heard of random fab outfits not on here doing so.

I don’t think interaction matters in terms of a vendors merit or longevity so I don’t think it should be required. Now if a vendor is on here kicking ass with good customer service then people should vote with their wallet.

 

Not surprising to me that OP hasn't really responded much - he basically got lamblasted on this thread for even mentioning his issues.
My only hope is it gets straightened out and he either gets his shipment or gets a refund - most of us have been there with something like this - just surprised how many people basically told him to stop whining as if being out $150 is just a minor inconvenience.
This should have ALWAYS been Meso's issue to follow up and follow through on as I previously gave my opinion on - it's not on the OP to have to investigate, except with Meso directly!

 

Thats my point though, why promote them as an official vendor to the community if they're in no way being a part of the community? TW proudly boasts that they don't accept money for advertising vendors; now obviously, TW still benefits from advertising them for free, but if its not about money, whats the point of keeping them around (when they've abandoned their accounts and haven't been seen in months/years)?

Maybe I'm just curious, what does "official vendor" mean? What are the determining factors that make one eligible for "official vendor" status? A good product isn't enough; I've seen various businesses with good products lose vendor status for simply not responding to members here about issues, just like this thread. Its easy to spot when its reoccurring, but why even let it become reoccurring? When vendors have gone silent within the community (TW posts) for an extended amount of time, why even hold the official vendor status?

And for clarification, I'm not suggesting vendors are expected to respond to every unhappy customer thread.. I just mean, if they've not even logged on or posted in 6 months, a year, 3 years - why do we keep them around as an official vendor? Why are we vouching for people who aren't a part of the community?

I guess its a redundant question because TW benefits (indirectly) by supporting them.

 

This place often seems to lose a basic grasp of reality and realistic expectation. It becomes a pack mentality, if the first couple of trolls get ahold of a thread and deem the OP's position incorrect then it becomes a feeding frenzy of trolls. Throw in the mix the people who are willing to look past a persons shortfalls because they feel they are "one" of them and they will defend that person in defiance of basic logic. Throw in the support of other like minded people and quickly the majority flips to a group of morons all feeding off of one another and because they have the mutual support of a hoard of idiots they all assume because they are the majority that they are correct.
The reality is that if the roles were reversed the person advocating the opposing point of view would probably not have that stance if it actually affected them personally. In most cases they would share the perspective of the OP in this case but because it has no actual consequence to them they take a viewpoint that in the mind of the poster gives them some sort of moral high ground when in reality they are not that person at all.
In short, people like this pose as good people on the internet when in reality most of us are just Karen's and assholes who get off on strangers on the internet thinking we are superior. Myself included. LOL.

I don't think expecting the OP to make one call to USPS before coming on here and posting a thread is asking for a lot. I've had issues with shipments and guess what I did? Called the shipper so I had as much information as possible before contacting the vendor. This shouldn't really be hard to figure out.

I've been on both sides enough to realize that humans play on emotions before facts. Some days I've come in here pissed and ready to fuck the world, and the world was more than willing to reciprocate.

And I've also come in here and blown off a disparaging comment with a joke, and all of a sudden the mob plays along.
