You have obviously never been scammed by a bad vendor, I can tell with this statement.

I have ordered things from a (now obvious) "sketchy" website, paid via credit card (luckily) and submitted an order. I got an order confirmation email with a tracking number. I went directly to the FedEx website and entered the number and IT WAS VALID and showed that the order had been created but not yet received or shipped. A couple of days later I went back and FedEx website showed it had been received and shipped. I could trace the order on their website.

Satisfied, I wait the week it said it would take, then checked the website again. It showed it had been delivered the prior day...but no it hadn't since I was home all week and there were no deliveries by anyone. So I called FedEx and the person verified my shipping address and name and bluntly told me "oh, you've been scammed. fake vendors issue shipping codes but never send your goods to you, this was something delivered to [insert different name] in [insert city/state across the country]."

I didn't bother to ask how the vendor can get ahold of a valid shipping tracking number. It took nearly three months to get my card refunded by my bank. So all of this is to say that absolutely a vendor can fake a shipping label/tracking number and scam you.

Not that Meso does that, of course. I think Meso is a "hit or miss" vendor. I think he is a one or two-man operation that has other priorities in life and this is a side gig. I think that he cares about the customer up to the point that it becomes a pain and then his attention wanes. I think he only makes his products a few times a year if that and it isn't what he lives on so it will never grow and become a "real" valued company. But even after all of that, the few things I've been *able* to order all got shipped promptly and arrived correctly and worked just fine. Nothing to sing praises about but I would give them a grade of B- as a business.

I'm curious what the tracking says. Label created or USPS in possession of item? That will tell you whom to be mad at, ha. I've had plenty of "label created" purchases that sit there for 1-4 days before changing to "USPS in possession of item."

Parts was sent out that day. Out of their hands now. Get with the freight company. They offer a service that they can't fulfill. By 2 weeks I would have contacted the freight company for a check up

The vendor will have to do a missing package claim and most likely send out a replacement or a refund, not sure how long it takes for an item to deemed "missing" though. Happened to me with some fishing line spoolers :(

I would much prefer to spin this to bash the "I want everything right fucking now" generations starting with the Millennials.

Try lickng a stamp, placing it on an envelope that contains a hand written JC Whitney catalog order form, and placing it in your mailbox. You then waited patiently for your stuff to show up. Most times it did, but sometimes it did not. Actually, kind of like it is now, just slower with much lower expectations baked into the process. Ah, the good old days!

How about the Sears catalog? There are many Sears homes still standing near me!

You don't get to just wash your hands of an unfulfilled order when a shipping company makes a mistake. A consumer entered into a contract with your business when they bought a product. When the product is lost in shipment, and the customer inevitably calls for resolution, you don't just say sorry, its gone forever and you're out the money for it. You're obligated to ensure the customer gets the product, whether that means sending another, locating the original, or refunding the money.

Does it really not make sense that when OP doesn't receive the product, disputes it with CC company, and the vendor doesn't receive money for a part that is now "lost", that the vendor is going to expect the customer to try to locate it? Thats idiotic. Its on the vendor at the end of the day. Sure, they can urge the customer to check with the shipper for updates when they suspect its just delayed, because they're limited to the same information about tracking, but they're the ones that ultimately contract with the shipping companies. They're the ones responsible when items get lost/aren't delivered. They'll be the ones on the shipping company's tail to locate the item when their own money is now missing.

    Just getting started.
I've had nothing but good experiences buying from MESO over the last couple of years.

I also have experience operating an online store and was responsible for merchandise fulfillment and nationwide shipping via USPS, UPS, and FedEx.

In this case, the recipient should contact USPS to initiate a search for the item in the case the tracking data isn't updated for days. All Priority Mail includes at least $100 in insurance, and if the package is stuck in limbo USPS is typically good at quickly declaring packages lost and paying the vendor for the loss. But, the vendor has to initiate that process. As a vendor, two weeks for a 2-day delivery is certainly beyond the threshold I'd consider getting involved with USPS, especially since customers are far too trigger happy with filing chargebacks. Of course, only getting one side of this story doesn't help, but seeing that MESO has this specific issue as part of their shipping policies I'd say 2 weeks meets their own requirements:

"Shipments that have lost tracking will need to be investigated with USPS first before reaching out to us. We will make our best effort to find any lost mail items. Generally items that have not received shipping updates for several days are either truly lost or have issues with the shipping barcode on the label. Many items will be delivered later than expected as they fall back on the address written on the label instead of the barcode scanned by the system. Please allow for an additional 7 business days since the last shipping update before contacting us for help."

You got it. That's how the world work bud.i know it sounds stupid. But you gotta go through the system. That's half the reason why the price of freight is through the roof

I've noticed more businesses charging a few bucks for shipping insurance at check out and claiming no responsibility if package was lost and customer didn't buy insurance. :notsure:

I never said don't go through the system. I said the exact opposite to OP: contact USPS, get an update, contact vendor with new information, make a decision from there; continue waiting or cancel/dispute charge. If he decides to get his money back, the responsibility is on the vendor to locate the product so the vendor doesn't lose money on lost items.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
I don't understand this at all. I just received a package from FedEx this morning. My name and address showed on the tracking page the entire time. UPS is the same, minus the name. Now, is it possible that someone was sloppy in shipping and mixed up shipping labels? I could easily believe that.

I still think that OP owns most of the blame here. I do a lot of online purchasing. USPS/UPS/FedEx/freight/DHL (don't get me started on them). If I ordered something coming USPS 2-day and tracking showed it not moving for 2 days, I'd be reaching out to USPS to see what the delay was. Once their answer was unacceptable, my next contact would be the shipper, asking if they could help in any way. Correspondence needs to be polite and professional, no matter how poor it is on the other end. Waiting 2 weeks and then being an asshat isn't going to get you far.

    Millennial here.

I remember ordering things online and it taking 2-3 weeks.

Now you can get same day/within 2-3 days.
