Hit up jt@bajakits.com he'll set your straight. I will probably be selling some of the stuff of mine as I upgrade further. For example as soon as I get my cage and through the bed 16" travel shocks installed, the rear the ones on there will be sold. Then when I upgrade to a 4 link in the rear bye bye under the axle leaf spring. From there I will have to talk to my fab guy to see what else we can do. If I get my hands on some of the new King 3.0 coil overs for the Tacoma I will get rid of my 2.5s.

    IN.... TOTALLY IN
whats scary though is you have done everything to your truck that i was planning on/hoping to do to mine but just havent had access to the mechanics/knowledge/parts to do :)

only thing i am going to do to mine that you havent done yet is an engine swap... cause 160mph in a tacoma would be AWESOME
not to mention i wanna take my truck to shot show next year and make all the nerds drool

LOL what are you swapping it with? I am doing a twin turbo set up as soon as I can get my hands on tuning software to map the original ECU since I don't want a piggyback or a standalone.

I think LS1 would be the easiest to make more power out of, but why not go with and LS3 instead? Or a blue printed World LSX block

UPDATE 12/07/16: A little late, but better late than never lol.
Finally got time to take the truck to get the 4.88 gears installed. Additionally, I willbe purchasing a 12G Gang Box for the bed to stock tools and accessories. No, long travel until I get the bed sides in. It doesn't make sense to me to get the bed taken off to make the bed cage and then again to add the new bed sides. I also just received my beadlock spacers, to prevent my Pitbull Rockers from doing this again. 20161129_203953.jpg
These are the spacer solution to prevent that from happening again. Cat31-r99_548sp_15_inch__550_spacer_ring.jpg

How does the truck feel with the new gears? Do you know what the gear ratio was before? How much of a difference did the new gears make?

It drives amazing, it feels like I am driving a Cadillac. lol The original gears were 3.91 or 3.909 if you want to be exact. The made a huge difference in MPG just look at these numbers. 20161209_133919.jpgLoL just kidding. I don't have my truck yet, I won't have it till tomorrow. I didn't get enough time to pick it up today.

Finally drove my truck with the new 4.88 gears. I think I just fell in love with mu truck all over again. The drive to work wasn't long enough. The truck definitely has more spunk, kind of like sticking 3 JDM stickers on a Honda lmao:rofl:Now it goes into 5th with no problem. No more driving 65mph in 4th gear lol

Ugh. My gears are sitting in my garage. I have no desire to remove that front end or do the gears. Not to mention it's cold as hell right now.

But it seems I need to. My 35's made a pretty big impact. I thought 285's were bad. Occasionally mine doesn't even make to 4th to get stuck there.:rofl:

Yeah lol and you can kiss the MPG bye bye lol. I told my wife I'd get better gas mileage if I just poured the gasoline on the floor instead. lol:rofl:MPG has come up decently considering how much I have. Way better than my 10.2-12MPG I was getting before. My true joy is feeling the acceleration after you take off. Haven't balls tp the wall floored it since I am still wearing the gears in, but the occasional speed up to pass someone has proven very enjoyable now. I didn't do mine, since I didn't care to much for the head-ache of adjusting shims, so I just paid someone else to do it. They had it done in 2 days, but it took me a 3rd since I had to come to work when the truck was ready. :frusty: Now all I need to do is install the beadlock spacers and the Big brake kit and I am set till I get my bed sides.

Noisewise I hated them originally, I have now come to tolerate them. They are loud and there is no getting around that fact. Tractionwise I love them they seem to bite on anything and everything. Even when there is slippage I don't feel like I have lost traction or control. I only realize I have slippage because the traction control light turns on. Would I recommend them? Yes, if you do some moderate to aggressive offroading. For the weekend warrior and those looking for an aesthetic look then No. They are rough on the road and tend to want to pull when they bite into the divisions in the concrete. For that reason I'd recommend Grabbers or Grabbers X3 for those people.

    P. S Rockers tend to run close to an inch bigger than advertised. I have rubbing issues even after a cab mount chop. It is only at full turn of the wheel left or right, but it's there. So I'd suggest getting one size smaller.

    P. S.S I need to make a correction the rubbing happens at full turn in reverse only. I assume it's due to how the truck loaded in the front as compared to driving foward and having the truck loaded in the rear.
