Yeah. My ex boss used to live in those mansion across from the hospital/forest park. Probably one of the nicest house I have ever been in, in the midwest. I looked up the price, it was only 1.7M.

8800 sq feet house, only 1.5M
    https://www.redfin.com/neighborhood...38.65749:38.6409:-90.26126:-90.288,no-outline

    That is $175/sq feet.

At my middle class neighborhood at 710$/sq feet, that house would be $6.25M

Of course closer to the water you are looking at $2200-$2400 sq feet

When I was in HS there was a girl who had a brand new fully loaded hummer every year. Pretty damn rich for such a small town.
Though the HS I worked at a couple years ago there were several 50k + vehicles on the lot.

jesus shit, are they famous or oil money?

I'll just stay out in Missouri. lol. I can go to Bridgeton and buy a 1,000sqft house with a basement that might need a little work for $55k.
Though I'd rather move farther out into the country and have land, but pretty much the same price range, lol.

We used to have a big fancy house. After a while we got over it. Moved to smaller home each time we moved. It's the best decision we've ever made.

We can pay cash for new vehicles (with the 2 we have now, it will be a long time before we buy again. )

Our home is under 1000sqf. Our highest electric bill this year was less than $50. And this month ($28) was free. Due to a rebate system in place October is rebate month. We got our $28 bill paid and $6 credit towards next month.

Lots more free time. Less work around the house and don't have to work o/t to pay for shit.

    Bigger isn't always better.

Neither. These are all Chinese/HK/Korean money. Some are studio money, but lower level studio executives.

Famous/Oil money wouldn't be caught dead in either.

There is a Korean kid down the street. He is 19, enrolled at Junior college. Rents the full house for $12,000 a month. Daily drives a McLaren. Here for 4 years to go to university.

This is what oil money daily drives in the winter...

I don't have a big house. Have a few rental properties, all paid for, and no mortgage in current house. It is 1880 sq feet, one of the smallest in neighborhood.

Always cash for vehicles for me. 70% savings rate. No debt.

That is how you go skiing, when you have that much money.

And when you have REAL oil money, you send your car to a different continent to get an oil change, even though there are authorized dealers close by

    $45,000 oil change

And if they just donated half their income, and still live pretty much the same lifestyle they could collectively end world hunger and homelessness.

Have to disagree. According to the IRS, the top 2% Donate more money than the remaining 98% combined.

Plus reality is; some people will never be responsible. Some people DO NOT WANT TO WORK...EVER.

If you check and see how much money is stolen from the IRS every year it's absolutely INSANE.

The number is in the BILLIONS. That's Frigg'n Crazy.

Saw a guy on 60 Minutes, he was finally caught after years and years of stealing from the IRS. He said for two months out of the year he would lay back in his bed with his iPad and submit 25-30 income tax files per day under false names.

Not for big money, always between $2-$3,500 and get paid by credit card.

Then he would party for the next ten months.

He was taking in a minimum of $60,000 A DAY. For two months!

Said he learned it from his boss who would have on average 50 guys a days submitting claims. Then he decided to go on his own, and screwed up by having all the cards sent to the same address. Which raised a Red Flag.

End of story; he got a slap on the hand, did like six months time. That's it. For stealing millions of dollars from the taxpayers.

We have but one response to that in Texas, and it pretty much sums our state up...

Wish that were true. But sadly Texas now has several sanctuary cities.

Even Austin supports capital punishment for super heinous crimes. There aren't THAT many hippies here!

This is also the town that gets whackjobs trying to blow up the IRS offices. :annoyed::der:

To me a bigger house is just more goddamn work. I'd like a real garage and one more room but that's it.

Nothing is cheap in MA plus we bought in 2004 at the peak. Basically rehabbed everything, working on the bathroom now thanks to winter and shitheads who cut corners
