I'm sorry I've been meaning to get you those measurements but I keep forgetting... and my driveway is on a slope so the measurement there wouldn't be too accurate. I'll try to get them tomorrow :anonymous:

No worries, and thank you. It’s not an urgent issue. I have some spacers coming to band-aid the sag for now.

Your 2.7L Inline 4 weighs less than our 3.4L V6's...

Exactly. So, if his 882 springs give more lift than I want on his truck, then they are out of the question for me.

Just got around to measuring. It was about 23” exactly from the center of the hub to the bottom of the fender flare.

Well I’m finally getting around to sorting out my blown nitrochargers in the rear. At least I thought both were blown in the rear but it turns out it was only one.

I picked up some 5100’s on CL for $40. I decided I wanted to try out the 5100’s since they were so cheap, and it gives me time to go through the warranty process for the nitrochargers...

It should be fun to try the 5100’s and see how they compare to the nitrochargers. However... I’ve been doing a lot of research into shock relocations... and I think that will be the first fab project I take on, on my own. I’ve been meaning to get back into welding and that should be the perfect first project.

I like that the 5100's have a flexible boot that shouldn't get pinched by the leaf springs at full flex and then displaced to where it doesn't protect the shock shaft like the Nitrochargers on our trucks.

Yeah I'm thinking that stupid cover is what caused my shock to blow. It wouldn't stay attached where it was supposed to and left the shaft completely exposed. I might look into replacing those shitty nitrocharger plastic covers with these boot style ones when I put them back on the truck.

Dammit. I just went out to look at my truck and now both sides have the plastic cover/protector dangling down at the bottom. I guess it's not an issue with the shock being in the front or rear and catching on the leaf springs when fully flexed - it happens to both sides.

Maybe now is the time to go long travel and move on from the OME.

I just installed my OME kit you think I’ll end up having the same issue ?????

If so I’ll regret getting this expensive kit for $1,180.00!!

Probably so. Mine did the same thing. Don’t sweat it though. It’s just a dust shield. Cut them off now and forget it if you’re worried about it.

Maybe. Time will tell. I installed my kit on 5/21/2016 at 178,563 miles. I now have 199,683 miles. The suspension is still working well for me other than squeaky front leaf spring moun

Oh. So it’s not like “necessary” to have them? I thought it provided some type of use/protection ?

It’s there to keep dirt and such away from the seal. I seriously wouldn’t worry about it. If they ever break loose, cut them off.

Yepp... that's the exact thing I've been thinking... I've even been contemplating selling the KTM to fund long travel lol...

Not necessary... maybe. But protecting the shock shaft from dirt and rocks is pretty important, imo. Especially if you plan to go off road. I would prefer to have them. I think there's a way to mod the existing nitrocharger plastic cover to ensure they don't drop down. I'll probably explore that when I go to reinstall them after the warranty process.

I'm not sure at the moment. I haven't had a chance to try out the 5100's in the dirt. I definitely don't regret the OME's. For the price, it's a very solid package. If I were to do it again at this budget, I'd still do the full OME setup. The OME springs and shocks all around, really helped the truck handle corrugated dirt roads at speed versus the stock suspension. I still want to hit stuff faster though... so longer travel will be in the works...
