Nah we didn't bother going up past the playground/shooting area. Those hills above that area are probably already pretty snowed in. We just turned around and went down Hamlin Gulch.

Thought it would be kinda cool to show where I got my inspiration for all this shit from...

I spent some time in Australia as a kid and my parents were cool and took us on trips across the outback to every coast of Australia in a Prado.

I don't have many goals in life but I do have a goal of finding this truck and importing it to the US in the next few years.

Well... I haven't been messing with the truck much this winter. I've been busy saving money to do stuff to the truck. But, I've also been busy spending money on gun stuff...

Took the new rifle out to a nearby free public shooting range... only to find the area is TRASHED. I only brought one trash bag and it hardly made a dent. A friend told me that Stay the Trail cleaned the area up last spring... incredible what assholes are capable of in less than a year...

Anyways, back to the truck... I need to do some maintenance on it before this coming season. But, this winter has been dedicated to figuring out trips since the truck is good except for some small maintenance stuff.

I was planning to ditch the CVT tent and go to a different setup... but finding certain parts of that setup have proved to be very difficult. So, I'll probably just use the CVT tent again this year...

yeah... I just wish I had more economical hobbies... between trucks, cars, guns, and cameras I'm really in a bad place financially :rain:

A couple weeks ago I took a trip out around Socorro New Mexico to do some wheeling and shooting with friends. It's a cool area. There's a ton of BLM land just east of Socorro with some fun wheeling. I really want to get back out there but more to the west of Socorro to explore around Gila National Forest.

It's my first AR build so it's a cheap Palmetto build with a Leupold vx freedom 2-7 x 33 scope

It's fun. I learned a lot building this one so I know what to do with my next build. I still haven't gotten around to zeroing the scope so idk how it really shoots tbh. I also don't have a ton of experience shooting especially with AR's so this is my first foray into it.

Since the weather was super nice today, I cleaned the garage in prep for fixing my shitboxes and getting ready for camping season.

    I love these two.

    That's all.

Well my tires are getting close to being shot. I was planning on trying some different tires this go around but a set of lightly used S/T Maxx's came up for sale for really cheap so I guess I'm stuck with these for another couple years. Now I just need to sell these dumb 3rd gen wheels.

Small update. Decided to run the RTT again for this season. It's impossible to find the topper I want so I didn't end up buying the swag setup I want.

So I got the tent/rack back on and went out for some shooting today.

This public range is still as fucked as ever... this trash pile is probably from this weekend given how fresh it is... included in the trash pile was 3 walmart bags that these cunts could have packed this shit in and taken home

In other news, I also mounted the waterport I bought. It's not 100% ideal since the outlet is not the lowest point but it still works well and I can quickly remove it from the mount if need be.

I was looking around for a bike carrier on Craigslist for the past couple weeks... found it hard to spend $100-150 on a shitty carrier that I would probably hate in a couple months. So I sent it on a 1up. This thing is rad.

Finally got out of the house and on the trails... even though it was only a quick overnight trip around Cañon City. Went there thinking the rain was gonna be relatively mild. Ended up pouring rain quite a bit. Thankfully my friend bought a fancy awning so we got to chill under that.

    Small updates...

Driving home from a camping trip this weekend, I noticed my brakes starting to grind. Specifically the passenger front. So I pulled the wheel off and sure enough there's not a whole lot of pad left. Guess it's time to do the Tundra upgrade. I was holding off because my brakes had life left in them, but now that they don't, I have no excuse...

I also made a third brake light for the rack because I have been increasingly worried about bad drivers potentially not seeing my brake lights and the fact that the tent blocks the stock third brake light...

And finally I made some simple maxtrax mounts. I didn't originally want them plastered on the side of the rack but without a welder, I couldn't make the kinda bracket I would need to put them elsewhere...

Finally had the time to knock out the Tundra brake upgrade since my stock brakes were shot. I used Napa Eclipse calipers, OEM Rotors, OEM pads, OEM pad shim kit, and the Adventure Taco hard line conversion kit. The install would have been pretty easy but I quickly found out that the line kit interferes with my Total Chaos spindle gussets. Everything else was pretty much bolt on. The line kit took a bit of persuasion to line up correctly, though.

Old thrashed brakes (yeah it was metal on metal for a few days lmao):

This is how much I ended up cutting off the dust shield:

    DSC00529
    by Phillip Keefe, on Flickr

This is where my camera battery died and I was too lazy to replace it...

This is how I solved the spindle gusset interference. I just notched it where the line protruded. I don't think it compromised the gusset too much. Where I notched doesn't seem to be where spindles typically bend but who knows...

    [IMG] [IMG]

I also finally got one of these electric ratchets... my god where has this been my whole life

The brakes are all buttoned up now. I went out to do a bit of pad bedding and the brake performance is definitely improved. It feels like it should have felt from the factory which is nice.

And my favorite purchase so far of the year has been this thing. With the sweeping fire bans in the state, this thing is a camp life saver. It's no where near as good as an actual campfire but it's damn near close.
