On the fence with him, but either way I respect what he has done with the fight against cancer, and for that I think he gets a free pass, even if he did.

I did not read all the comments but here you go.

His team mates admitted to doping with him. One team mate even returned his gold medal from the 2004 Olympics (Tyler Hamilton). The reason lance gave up the fight is because 10 people we going to testify that he was doping. Watch this video and than decide if he doped. I live and am from Austin and this is Lance's home town. I am a big fan of his but he doped.

I lean toward all elite athletes, swimming, cycling, track... using steroids. It's part of the culture of sport and is necessary to compete (equally). Too much $$$ involved to risk coming in second.

He doped. Usain Bolt dopes. They're all guilty except of course the Chinese Woman's Olympic Swim Team.

...countless negative drug test results only means you weren't caught.

nonetheless a positive drug test carries +++more weight than the testimonial evidence they seem to have against Lance.

    My $.02.

i think some of us, after the holidays are over, once the half consumed cookies, PEDs, and milk have been thrown away, need to have a sit down with our parents and talk about what really happens at the north pole and in professional cycling in the 2000s.
p.s. Neil Armstrong could have ridden his bike to the moon and back but he didnt you know why? cause children with recently removed training wheels and the french get excited by bicycling not grown adults

That's not totally true. Yes, in a couple of cases, two or more of his former teammates who had been busted were asked to testify against him past and they did. In the current case, it is all former teammates who NEVER tested positive but were presumably shown proof that they had in fact doped, so they agreed to go ahead and testify while accepting a shortened ban/suspension from competition.

Lance Armstrong is not a saint. He's not even a good guy. He has always been known in the cycling world to be a raging asshole before cancer made him a hero. The man hides behind an empire that he built to take advantage of the good will of others. Livestrong doesn't even donate to cancer research. Their mission(aside from spending millions on promoting Armstrong himself) is to promote "awareness." Yes, you donate your hard earned cash for them to remind you that cancer does in fact exist.

And that's coming from someone who has been riding and racing since I was in highschool(Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away).

    Excerpt from the above link:

"Gifford did not uncover any legal misuse of Livestrong funds. That being said, he reported that, “Livestrong spends massively on advertising, PR, and ‘branding,’ all of which helps preserve Armstrong’s marketability at a time when he’s under fire. Meanwhile, Armstrong has used the goodwill of his foundation to cut business deals that have enriched him personally, an ethically questionable move.”

Thanks, LaRue. Lance has been able to hide behind the Livestrong brand for a long time now. Few people understand the complete picture of the xxxxstrong brand(s) and how they simultaneously benefit the bottom lines of cancer "awareness," cancer research, and his personal account. It's not all as rosy as it might immediately appear. Lance is hardly a saint by any measuring stick, but that's not a popular view in the general public's eye.

Having met many cyclists and woring in the industry it is factual that "all" of the top guys fro that era or any era for that matter were using every advantage that they could legal or otherwise. If you don"t fail the tests you didn't ge caught. Like says you don't speed when you drive. You may not get tickets, but I'm sure you've been over the limit. If you pass the tests you pass the tests. All in all his story has been good for cycling and has helped encourage others to enjoy a sport that is a lot of fun. I personally (we've met a few times) am not the biggest fan, but I don't put much stock in celebrity.

GLD01 and a few others have a point, Foundations are made to help ease the tax burden of being rich. They are "not for profit", but that definitely does not mean that they don't PROFIT. Don't get me started about how all these "cure foundations etc..." spend alot there money on things that ultimatly have nothing to do with curring anything at all except there own wants and needs. Most of the reserch is done to find "treatments" (money train) not cures (not more money). Just my two cents. BTW who would get the titles, the other cheats? What good are they now? Sadly we seem to care. Oh well :)

He had become a triathlete. He'll have to find something else to do now.

They and several other current riders(and former Lance teammates) begin serving their suspensions at season's end for admitting they doped while helping Lance win his titles.
