yeah. and get a firestik antenna. they are really good! everything i read says that a 5’ firestik will out perform like a 102” whip. they are a little more, but i think well worth it. i can’t decide if i want to run a 7’ a 5’ or 2 5’ i’m not just going to use mine off roading or at meets, i’ll be using it on road trips and everything. i looked at some flex antenna and the bigger 4’ rang is only like 3 miles. i would like to get out farther if i can.

also the firestik will receive NOAA signals if your CB as the channels for it. whip antennas will not receive NOAA even if the CB will.

also we need to see about the permits/passes. looks like their is some kinda noncommercial or something, not understanding it’s full use. and what other permits they have. idk if we will all just get single passes or something, or if we will have to get a group pass/permit.

edit:Applications will be approved if they meet the following 8 evaluation criteria (for details on the 8 criteria, particularly on criteria 5 and 6, review the Code of Federal Regulations at 36 CFR 251.54 (h)(1)):

Authorization of the activity is not prohibited by rules or orders that apply to the national forests, or by federal, state, or local law related to the content of activity.
Authorization of the activity is consistent or can be made consistent with standards and guidelines in the Area Plan that apply to the area where the activity will take place.
The activity does not materially impact the characteristics or functions of environmentally sensitive resources or lands.
The activity will not delay, halt, or prevent administrative use of an area by the Forest Service or other scheduled or existing activities on NFS lands.
The activity does not violate state and local public health laws and regulations applicable to the site proposed for the activity.
The activity will not pose a substantial danger to public safety.
The activity does not involve military or paramilitary training or exercises by private organizations or individuals, unless such training or exercises are federally funded.
A person (or persons) 21 years of age or older has been designated to sign and will sign a permit on behalf of the applicant.
If your application is denied and an alternative time, place, or manner will allow you to meet all the evaluation criteria, the Forest Service will offer that alternative.

well i just now found out from dad. that their is some legal ban on moving fire wood or something. we have some, and were going to cut a small tree down at my brothers, so i just thought i could take that. now i’ll have to see about fire wood.
edit: ok found it it’s a ban on moving fire wood, out side of county/or more than 50 miles from whee it was cut/obtained. i’ll see if we could get fire wood their, looks like you can get permits for cutting fire wood.

yeah, i thought about see if a placed sold any. but KY is also on the list of 14 states on the ban of moving fire wood. it’s because of the ash beetle or what ever infecting trees, by banning fire wood from being moved they are trying to stop it from spreading.

Couldn't we just cut some here and bring it? If is it illegal to bring it in as well as out?

i don’t see anything on lbl site about moving fire wood in or out of the LBL area. but like i said, their are 14 states that have a bad problem with the ash beetle or what ever it’s called. it kills trees and give them some kinda disease and you can’t move fire wood (or i understand any wood that is not pressure treated) out side of the county it was cut or more than 50 miles of where it was cut. if you get caught their are pretty high fines. they put a ban on moving fire wood to help stop the spread of the beetle. till dad told me this i had just plained on finding some here/ loading up what we have and taking it. but don’t look like we can do that. also it looks like you can get a fire wood permit at LBL so maybe one person could get that and we could cut or pic of fire wood once we got there. i’ll look into that permit some, may make a few phone calls and see what we can do. also about to send PM’s to the guys that voted.

I know about the ash beetle, but as long as we don't have it here, we should be fine to bring it in as long as we don't take it out.

idk maybe. i’ll right that down and a few other things and make a phone call. but from what i read it dose not matter about taking it in or out. it’s a ban on taking it ANY WHERE out side of the county it was cut or more than 50 miles from where it was cut. and it’s more than 50 miles from me, and way out side of the county.

    hmmmmm...so you can't bring non-infected wood in?

EDIT: i found the link to tennessee ash beetle info, it says that you can't move firewood anywhere within tennessee.

yeah exactly thats that problem. you CAN move it within the county it’s cut and burned in, but not out side of that county. like you can move it around blunt county, but you can’t bring it here.

its not that i'm worried, its more just i like to know the technicalities. i seriously doubt a cop will pull you over on the highway because he thinks there is wood in your truck from a different county...but realistically, we should be able to get most of what we need from the campsite.
