Landed a unique camper shell!

Lazy Sunday browsing marketplace and I ran across a fresh ad for an ARE MX walk in door shell that’s uniquely fit for the 1st gen ext cab Tacoma. Drove about 3 hours away in a hurry, handed over the cash, and seller helped load it on my truck. Super stoked to have a hatchback camper shell to make my bed into a little truck camper. Anyone ever seen another one of these?

 

Had a Pilgrim brand version on my short bed 96' F-150 years ago. Used it as very basic camper with a cot and still had plenty of room for a couple Mt. Bikes and all the gear I needed.

 

Wow I've never seen one like that in person, must be really rare.

 

Yes, my parents had on their Ford Ranger.

 

I wonder how many are out there for a 1st gen Tacoma? I like how they replicated the tailgate form into the rear door like the original body lines. The side windows slide open with screens and it’s about 6 inches taller than cab high with front facing long window at the high point.

 

I really dig that. Score! Any plans to get it color matched?

I’d love the unicorn ARE MX for the double cab.
Only seen a couple on TW. The last one being a girlfriend/wife buying her boyfriend/husband a 1st gen double cab as a gift. It came with the ARE MX topper.
