Not looking to start an arguement about shutting it off/on. Just trying to show a fix to LDA that I can not turn off despite picking 'warning OFF' and selecting the lowest sensitivity levels. This DOES also turn off the pre-collision and distance cruise control. I wanted none of these options (technology package) but was told -and possibly lied to- that all the trucks in New England have this package from the factory. At the end of the day I wanted a NEW access cab, 6sd manual, 4x4, V6. Again not trying to start a fight. If you don't like this idea move along.

    Get in the passenger seat

Grab the camera cover behind the rearview mirror and ever so softly push it toward the windshield as you slide it down toward the dash. It will only go down about an inch. If you tug too hard or try to force it out you will break one of the four small tabs that hold it place (ask me how I know this).

With you middle finger and thumb push inward on the center of the gray retaining bracket as you also push it upward toward the roof.

The camera is basically sitting in the bracket attached to windshield. Push it upward toward the roof and it will slide out.

DO NOT unplug the camera or the lense heater (black triangle with blue wire). It will throw a message on the dash screen, flashing orange triangle in the speedo, flashing pre-collision off in the tach.

I took about an inch of electrical tape and cut it lengthwise in half to cover the camera lense at 12&6 and 3&9 (if you can only read a digital clock ask someone what that means). Then put a small ziptie to hold it in place. I'm sure you could just wrap it with a longer piece of electrical tape to do the same job.

I was leary to cover the lense with long pieces of tape since I have no idea what triggers the heater or if it gets hot on the backside.

Once you drive for about a 100' and sometimes less the dash screen will say 'front camera unavailable see owners manual'. The green LDA icon next to the outside temp will turn a dull amber. The pre-collision OFF symbol in the tach will turn on. I have driven for over an hour and no other warnings or symbols turned on and nothing ever flashes.

Not the 'modification' for all, I know that. But if you want crap to stop beeping at you locking up the brakes when nothing is even close without buying a 4yr old truck that someone likely tooled on then here is a solution.

I just turn mine off via the button on the steering wheel and it stays off until I press it again. No warning lights or anything and radar cruise still works.

Edit: Just re read it and saw you didn't want any of that stuff, my bad, carry on

Yeah, tape works. But so does that little button on the steering wheel.

^this. I turned off LDA on the steering wheel about the second time I drove it when it was evident it was going to warn me every time I drove a curvy section of road near my house. Unless LDA on a 19 is different than a 21. If you’re looking to turn off the adaptive cruise and stuff then that’s a different story.

Maybe I'm a moron (trust me this could be the problem) but when I scroll over to the PCS, LDA, settings menu I can choose 'warning off' in pre-collision and the bright amber symbol comes on the dash is absolutely off. But when I choose 'warning off' in LDA it still beeps when I go over the lines to go around parked cars, bicycles, etc.
I tried the steering wheel button and still the same result. Perhaps the '21s are in fact different? Or maybe my two brain cells are busy fighting with eachother

You know if you long push the cruise control it works like regular. Just bypass the other way to tech and dumb cruise control

I would have taken the truck back to the dealer, exchange it for a stripe down to the bone SR.
Take the left over money, buy a convertible and drive into the sunset.
Why go through all that bullshit??

We were driving back from South Carolina the middle of last month and I noticed that the LDA wasn't working. I checked all of the settings in the software, checked to make sure everything was on. I was baffled until I realized that it had happened when I had pushed a button on the steering wheel while trying to figure out what the button did.

Yeah, that was the LDA off button. I've read the 10,000 page owners manual several times and never saw anything about that button.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to adjust the LDA sensitivity. If in fact there is a way to do that.

The sensitivity is in the dash screen. Scroll over to the 'gear' on the far right. You'll open the screen that says PCS, LDA, Settings. Arrow down to LDA, press the square, above and below 'warning on/off' are both sensitivity settings.

Thanks! A little bit less sensitivity might help the thing not driving me crazy(er).

Don't even need to read the entire owner's manual (I have not...YET). Your truck should've come with a type of "quick start" guide that explains all the of the basic features/settings in like a couple dozen pages, if that. Well worth the time to flip through it.
