I've had my 2025 Tacoma Limited for less than a week. I'm driving across the Bay bridge yesterday and noticed strange pulling on the steering wheel. Upon further investigation, I realized that the truck was attempting to drive itself. I let go of the steering wheel and it went around the corners without my input but, after maybe 30 seconds, I started getting nags that I should grab the steering wheel. I did and let go and, after another 30 seconds, I got the same nag. I've got to say, I really like this feature but do not like the nag. Is there any way to disable the nag but keep the Lane Trace Assist working? I'm not saying I want to turn it on so I can crawl in the back seat and take a nap but I'd like it to work until I disable it. Probably not but thought I'd ask.

Haha. Yes, some people have been using the “water bottle method.” Placing a plastic water bottle in between the steering wheel webs to keep some pressure applied the steering wheel pressure sensor.

It is not a Tesla with self driving.....it is just an assist. But it you want then shove a water bottle in the steering wheel.

Where exactly is the pressure sensor, 10 and 2? Is there one or two? I wonder if the Velcro style ty-wraps would work?

I hear you but it certainly felt like it was more than just an assist. It took me around some pretty good curves on the interstate.

Not a sensor in the steering wheel for hand pressure. In the steering mechanism for input.

Anyone experience strong cross winds with lane assist in any vehicle? It might be better at keeping you in the appropriate lane might make it worse when trying to correct, I'm sure I've driven something with lane assist in strong winds if I have it was uneventful.

It works very well in strong crosswinds.

If you nudge it just enough to make it think you’re still steering it won’t take long for the system to get overwhelmed and cross the line at too steep an angle for it to correct.

It follows the painted lines on the road. Be careful because I’ve noticed that it will follow road repair black tapes also and it will pull aggressively. I turned mine off afterwards as I prefer to drive instead of the computer.

Folks who need lane assist, alerts, alarms or cameras in order to drive scare me…

I don’t think they need it. It’s just novelty to them and think they’re driving a Tesla. My 10 year old BMW has this feature and I also liked it in the beginning but quickly turned it off. Many people have never experienced this feature.

I would think it would if everything is calibrated quickly. Not a lane assist issue but those winds usually come as a surprise. Some roads I travel frequently that experice winds in certain spots I can prepare for and I can see where other drivers weren't prepared.

Lane assist comes in handy on long highway stretches with no on in sight and you gotta dip into that big bag of beef jerky. PKSB has saved me a bunch of paperwork on my 3G and now 4G. Blind spot monitor has prevented me from triggering road ragers and expending ammo needed to reduce their proliferation. Those cameras are a chef's kiss offroad where you no longer are tied to an idiot spotter or constantly getting out of the vehicle.

The year is 2025. We no longer have to ride a conesta wagon. But, yet still can by choice. I much prefer all the above.

Not that anyone is going to do this, if you're out goofin around on a road trip. Can't you pull over to eat that beef jerky? Presumably you have the time, while other motorists are trying to get somewhere and not snacking or checking their phone. I'm not against freedom, but the audacity people have when they are out leisurely traveling the roads while other people have more important business on the road. Is mind boggling.

Uh, just put your phone away and drive. Too many unskilled and distracted people on the roads are the reason some of us gave up riding motorcycles.

Don't use my phone while driving other than for GPS on that big beautiful screen. You even do calls and texts through the audio system. The year is 2025.

I like lane assist 95% of the time. The occasion when it’s annoying is when you are safely making a quick move across the centerline to give a little clearance on the shoulder side (road work, indecisive squirrel..), and it instinctively fights you unless you use the turn signal.

First time I experienced it I was like ‘What the heck!’ I thought I had something hung up under my truck causing it to jerk.

I’ve gotten used to it know and don’t mind anymore.
