Hey guys, I have a great set of Continental Terrain Contact A/T tires on my 2014 Tacoma. They are pretty big at 33”. I’ve been running into problems getting them balanced. I’ve been having the dealer do it - the first time they did it perfectly and then I moved/switched dealers and the dealers on the east coast don’t like big tires. Is anyone familiar with the balancing beads that you put in the tires and apparently they keep them balanced?

    Thanks,
    Connor

We got a sweet new tire machine at work. If I mount a tire and it needs a lot of weights. Then I can enter a function where it has me mark the wheel and then tire at 2 different points. Dismount tire and rotate tire to that new clocked location. Maybe your tires just need an excessive amount of weight and should be brought to a shop with a newer Corghi machine, with a competent tire changer. Have the tire mounted in a different clock than it is now.

I don't recommend the beads, but I don't have much experience with them. I'm sure some praise it.

That’s great to know - I think I just need to find the right place to have them balanced.

You just need a good balancing technician. That is not a very aggressively tire pattern. When they go out of balance are any of the weights missing. I’ve literally gone the life of a 60k mile tire and never had to rebalance them.

I guess the places I’ve been going to just don’t know what they’re doing… Does anyone have a good shop in New England?
