Larger Outter Tie rod than 1st gen Tacoma

So I bought some spare steering extensions from a guy off offer up saying they were off a 1st gen Tacoma.
When I go to Match up the inner tie rod it fits how ever for the outter it is larger then my tie rod diameter off my 98 Tacoma?
Are 2nd gen Tacomas larger diameter tie rods? Tundras of what year? Etc?
I ask because I was surprised the inner worked both at the rack and pinion and at the outter tie rod threads.

 

I have a set from my total chaos kit for a 1st gen
I never used if you want I’ll sell them to you
