I’ve been doing a ton of searching, but not getting a ton of hits. Seems to me that 285’s would be a pretty good match for the stock 4.30’s. Anyone played with lighter weight 285’s and proper (similar to pro) offset and what did your MPG look like?

On my 500 mile road trip back from the dealer with winter gas, I averaged ~18.5 mpg. Currently, I get significantly better mileage in town than I do on the interstate, even keeping to 70, that 2500+ RPM is tough.

before anyone chimes in with it, yes, I knew I was buying a truck with super low gears and I’m happy with it...just wondering if taller tires could take advantage of it or if the extra weight and rolling resistance offset it.

I’m sure 285s won’t help with your fuel economy.

Yeah highway mpgs will suck if going 65+. I’m constantly searching for that 7th gear, haha!

I guess another way to put it - on vehicles that I’ve gotten better MPG with in the past that I put larger tires on, regearing brought the mileage closer to stock. I had an 89 YJ 4 banger that got low 20’s stock. I put 33’s on it and MPG went down to mid teens corrected. Put 4.88 gears on it and got back to upper teens, occasionally cracking 20. This is like that in reverse.
