I’ve got an old DuraLast battery that is long last it’s prime. Production code of 12/2015, and lots of corrosion between the electrolyte caps despite me cleaning it bi-monthly.

The battery in there is currently a size 35S. I would like to run the largest battery I can, I plan on getting a Northstar dry cell.

    Toyota says I need a 24F:

What’s the biggest group size battery y’all are running? I’d like to run a 27F but I don’t know if it’ll fit. I’ve got plenty of left lateral room because of my supercharger.

I remember seeing the physical sizes of batteries on either Interstate or Deka catalogs .

Then it could have been back before the internet

    Just take some measurements .

You can always change to a different battery tray to give you more room

It's not like it used to be, not all 27F's are exactly the same size, and I wouldn't take an online seller's measurements too seriously. I've had better luck with my Toyota shop's TrueStart battery. Free install, (it's figured in the price, so why not) competitive price, better warranty, no post corrosion (which comes from poor post seal), no wondering if it will fit, and it lasts longer.

I’ve read that others have used 27F in a 1st gen. It’s just longer, so you will lose 1” of clearance on each side. This will also make it overhand the stock plastic tray. You could always make your own tray that is slightly larger.

EDIT: I used to have a group 35 optima yellow top in my 99. I mounted it on its side size the battery posts were on the opposite side from stock. This worked since it wasn’t a liquid cell battery.

You could always mount it in the bed. Then you can get the largest battery(s) you can carry.

My NorthStar 27F is about 1/2 inch taller than the OEM stock 27F. Measure twice...

you have to measure the battery, I was looking at 24F and 27F batteries for my 2nd gen truck and they offer 2 different battery trays im assuming for each different battery, the call the bigger size Cold Spec. although the WALMART Everstart 24F has over 700 CCA as compared to my stock OEM Toyota 24F has 575 CCA makes no sense for me to get the 27F

your Toyota battery is the same as the Interstate. Just a different sticker. And yes all the group 27F batteries will be about 99% the same size. Same with every other battery group, doesn’t matter who made it. It has to fit within certain specs.

I currently have a 27f in my factory location with zero issues. Plenty of clearance to everything. It's an Optima yellow top which I don't recommend. Look into Northstar, They are a very good company with a few of the engineers from Odyssey. 0324190855_HDR.jpg

Did you replace the battery tray?

Nope, it is the same height as the factory group 24 and same depth, just wider so it fits without issue.
