Depends on the year, the rims I posted I have waiting to put on are from the 90-2000s which I've test fit and do fit. If it's past the early 2000s model idk if they fit

    Awesome, thanks for your help!

I got the info I needed and pulled the trigger. I'll post a picture with the new wheels once I get them on!

Hey guys, maybe there is a better thread to ask this, but does anyone know how to tell what tire size can fit a given wheel width? For example an 8” wide?

Another question, is there any reason people do the “black box mod” rather than just remove the entire inner wheel well “cover”(for lack of a better term)?

Not very truck savy but trying to research and learn. 98 Tacoma ext if I ran 235/75-15 what time would I need to get? From reading the other post I wouldn't have any rub issues?

I’m running 31s on 15 inch rims the rubbing I encountered was front end, took the metal boxes behind the front wheel wells and trimmed the plastic lower fender. I also run spacers…. Not sure the size but it made my wheels not rub on the calipers. And yes I know should have gotten 16inch rims. To each their own..

2008 though not sure this helps. Five luggers RWD FTW

How much heavier are 17s with AT tires compared to similar 15s? I don't want to make my 2nd gen any slower than it already is.

I got 15x10's Pro Comp 97 Series with 32x11.50r15 tires fit my 5 lug cutting the fenders and removing the plastics from under the fenders without a lift.. It depends what you are willing to do.. I have seen 31's without a lift by just removing the black box

Leer camper shell, tatami mat in the back, bumper hitch, potential 4runner front bumper swap.
Does this also apply to first gen tacomas? I have been searching all day for this info. (Helping out with a 2001 2.4 base model, and trying to figure out how big to reasonably go.)

EDIT: It looks like 235/75/r15 is fine for 1st gen. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The same rules apply for a first gen. Owners manual in my 2.4 5lug states 235/75/15 is the max - if you want to go beyond this slightly without lifting you need to unbolt a seemingly useless black box from the inside of your wheel well that's only purpose is to prevent larger tires

Does anyone know if a tire shop will install 30s for me if I do the black box mod myself? Specs in their systems will say a max is 235

I got a set of 17s i plan on putting on my 2010 tacoma, stock height. Im trying to find a good size tire to put on the 17s. Does anyone know if 235/65/17 would be good on stock height 5 lug? Thanks

That will work for you even by not doing the black box remove. Mine is currently running on 245/75/16s . Perfectly fine 5 lug.

Did you have a lift or black box mod to rock those?

I removed the black box easy tools. Only took me 3 minutes. And I can fit mine up to 32” tires easy . And no it’s doesn’t have lift it’s stock

your speedometer will be funny tho , you’ll be traveling 8mph or more than your speedometer is telling you after those wheels . The faster your going the more different you’ll get.
