    Upgraded shocks.
My new-to-me 5 lug came with 245/65R17 and seems to drive great. But I’ve not driven a stock one to compare it to.

If stock is 215 then how do people go 235? Does it mean the tires are pinched tighter to fit onto the wheel? I'm a noob so don't mind my ignorance. I just know my stock wheel looks pitiful as it is now, 215/70/15.

Assuming 235 fits in the stock 15" wheel and based on this thread I assume the wheel won't rub if I went 235/75/15. For anyone that knows, does that sound correct?

Here's 235/75/15 on my 1st gen. I do have 3 inch lift spindles, but like other members have said they will fit no issues without a lift.

The front has the fabtech lift spindles and a one inch steel spacer I found on ebay. 4 inches total

The back has the fabtech shackles, 2 AAL springs, and I also installed Air Lift air bags for towing and carring stuff on the ladder rack or when we load up to camp

I have a 2001 5-lug Xtracab no lift and was stressing over this decision for about a year (worried about rubbing, etc.). I ended up biting the bullet one morning and got the 235s and couldn't be happier. No rubbing, drives better (no power loss at all), and I get a 1-inch lift out of it too! Here's the before and after:

looks awesome! I just bought an 08 regular cab 5 lug and was looking into getting bigger tires. I kept seeing people say to re-gear if you are getting bigger tires. Did this require any re-gearing? Or did it fit with no modifications? Sorry I’m new to all of this.

    I did not regear.
If there is a slight power loss I don't notice it.
You do have to remember that your speedometer and odometer will read lower.
Just remember at highway speeds you are actually going about 5mph faster.
Also, your mpg will be higher than indicated, so you're not getting worse gas mileage because of the larger tires.
See the attached graph for differences.

I just got my first truck - 2003 Tacoma SR5 Xtracab 5 lug and I am so stoked on it!

Your truck looks amazing with those new tires and is exactly what I want to do to mine.

When you turn your wheel, do you experience any rubbing then or none at all?

Hey Y’all, I currently have a 96 2.4L Base RWD and picked up some new shoes w/tires (235/75 R16) for it. I’m not trying to add an additional lift to the suspension of the truck, but was wondering what’s the biggest Diameter tire I can go on without a lift and rubbing?

The truck currently has (235/75 R15) on it and haven’t encountered any issues there other than with really big bumps/potholes. It’ll causing a quick rub of the wheel well liner. Truck came with that setup from previous owner. Figure the extra inch with the new shoes might cause more rubbing issues

Been trying to find the answer to this but haven’t had much luck.
