Black grille guard with mounted kc road lights, 31x9.5x15 AT on stock rims. My future mod list: new white front bumper, Fat Bobs 2.75 spacer lift with rear AAL, american racing Flat Black Rims, 32x11.5x15 BFG A/T, satoshi grille with road lights mounted behind it, 8000k HID for all lights, 1'' Body Lift, new window tint, blacked out headlights and taillights, custom hood scoop, weather tech floor liners, LED dash cluster replacement, Front bilstein shocks, 40 series flowmaster, paint all my badges black.
I have had buddies with them. I think their just really frowned upon on here because everyone on here likes to go "wheeling" and body lifts can be dangerous if you put them in that situation. They also dont help for clearance(from the ground to your frame), they just give extra room for wheel clearance. Thats why I think everyone on here sees them as no use. But as a 5 lugger we dont have any other choice cause were only offered the 2.75'' lift.

True, i had a 96 tacoma before this one and the aftermarket parts for them was a bit bigger. If only someone could come out with spindle lifts for our trucks. That would be waaaay better than a body lift. I like to off-road a lot so minimal rubbing is better than cracked body mounts for me :D

Yea a 1.5'' spindle lift would be the best thing in the world for my truck.

    a 3" did wonders for mine :p

I have to think one will come along at some point... They made spindles for 1st gen 5 lugs so the 2nd gens have to be coming soon.

FWIW I had my current tires (235/75/15) on with no lift... minor rubbing when I had a full cab (5 people with me, just enough weight to squat the front susp. a little) in corners or bumps... On the 1st gens your first spot to rub height wise is in the top of the fender well. Never had any issues rubbing on the sides.

I was wondering the same thing. I have my goodyear wrangler A/T they're 30's or 31's and I wanted to use one of those if I had a flat cause Im running 32's now. Their would be no way that tiny spare would work.

I was able to fit my 31 in the stock spare location. The thing is it has like two or three metal prongs that help to hold the tire from moving side to side i just bent them out a little bit. But that 31 took up all the space. I dont think your getting 32"s in there. Have to go with a tiregate or something like the nfab tire carrier

I as well had my 31's on my truck before my lift. Depending on the backspacing of those rims you should probably encounter very little to no rubbing. My tires were making contact with the sway bar before my lift

If I were you I'd buy the lift before. First off it looks a lot better and second the lift is pretty Damn cheap.

will a 31" tire on a 15" rim that's 10.5" wide, with 4 inch back spacing work on my stocker for a few weeks until I lift it?

It should. Im running 32x11.5x15 on a 15'' rim that is 8'' wide with no problems. Go to discount tire and find a guy who actually knows what hes talking about, not one of those stupid punk kids. Ask to get the rim and tire test fitted on your truck. Its free and you get to see how it will look.
