    Guys, I need some help.

I thought I had things figured out and bought five Pro Comp 7069 15x8 wheels...I was going to put either 215 or 235 BFG KO2s on them.

I took them to our local Costco tire center this afternoon to check for fit...before buying tires...to make sure no mods/spacers would be required. They tell me that 235s should not be mounted on 8" rims because it will bow the sidewalls out, less tread footprint on the road...so, they didn't even check to see if the rims would clear the calipers (which I asked them to do...).

I'm looking for second opinions and recommendations. Is what they are telling me correct?

I bought the rims from 4 Wheel Parts on 12/15 and I'm pretty sure they have a 30 day return policy.

    It's for an '07 2.7l 4x2 AC.

    TIA.

    @KDogg311

    Update:

I looked at the specs for BFG KO2s in 215 and 235 and they do have max rim width of 7"...Next size up looks like 30x9.5x15 and specs are 6.5 - 8.5 rim width...thinking I'll either need to go with those or get a different width wheel. Suggestions appreciated!:frusty:

I went to discount tire and got mine put on. They tried every tire size with the rims I got and told me what fit and what didn't and I decided what to get off what they said

@Steven07 What wheels are you running?

    Wow, no mods for 245 75 16s.

No rubbing at full lock? No bottoming out on speed bumps?

Are you happy with the way the performance?

Yes when I put the rims and tires on the truck I didn't have any mods no lift or anything and no black box mod. No rubbing at all and I have plenty of room in the wheel well to where I didn't have to worry about rubbing at all.

    Here's mine with 16x8 and 245/75/16.
Just did fatbobs lift in the front and nothing in the back. Also had to do the black box mod for some rubbing.

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
Unless you're lucky with a tech you get, Costco won't mount a tire that much plus sized. You may have to take the tires from them and have mounted elsewhere.

I got lucky. My 235 x 75 x 15s are street tires (Dueler) on a set of 'spare tire wheels'.

They didn't think they'd clear. I assured them they would, and of course they did. Now since they are up and rolling, they'll mount up that size again with no issue.

But I'm pretty surprised that the 245x75x16 mentioned above clears w/no modifications, being another 1.5" or so in dia.

Don't know what wheels those are on, but I'd be reluctant to put 245s on OE 6" wheels. A 235 is even at the max boundary with a 6" wheel.

A 6.5" wheel (like 1st gen Highlanders) would be fine. But if I was buying wheels I'd go with a 7"

The 235s, even in my P street tires, make the ride a 'bit' firmer, the truck a 'little' more sluggish, and does alter the speedo/odo. At 60 I was 2 over previously, now 2 under.

Thanks for the heads up with Costco, Bill...I haven't been able to find any 16 x 7s...so I probably go with a 15 x7

You know.. The very best thing about not having a lift is being able to get an Alignment anywhere and not deal with 4x4 shops. Rather than having to pay $180 At a 4x4 shop.. You can go anywhere and pay between $50-$80 for alignment.. And also never having to come across problems with parts and labor..

Since my base model comes without flares.. I don't mind cutting them.. 2 options.. 1 Putting a heavy duty trim around the cut areas or 2 some Badass flares ..

I'm running 33x12.5xr15 with a standard 3" lift. Alignment is not an issue until you go past 3". I also didn't have to trim my fenders.

This was when I was running 235/75/r15 BFG kos
