    I wouldn't go with anything larger than a 285.

If you're afraid of damaging something, then don't change sizes?

265/75/16 or 265/70/17 and be done with it.

Modding has risk. If you're afraid to create a problem, then don't mod.

bigger heavier tires hurt 4 cylinder performance, power, mpgs. if your going for looks than go bigger, if your looking for retaining performance with a better look >p265/70/16 would be best if you have 16 inch rims, there are plenty of threads about this in the Tires/ wheels or 4 cylinder forums just search the subject you can find lots of info there.

Weight (rotational) is a big issue too, stay away from E Load rated.

That should be fine. Won't hurt the trans but will hurt your ego going up hills on the freeway

Stop posting and read your thread.

Extra rolling resistance = extra forces applied to stock parts.

If you don't want to deal with increased maintenance/increased breakage of parts - don't mod.

Plenty of 3" lifts with 265/75/16 or 265/70/17s.. I wouldn't go any bigger than a 285 on a 4 cyl auto and stock gears, and my truck was slow enough with 265/75/16s, so much so that I'd personally never get 285s without re-gearing or without a manual transmission instead.

Your truck will be a dog, it will work harder to turn bigger tires, you will cause premature wear to parts therein.

    You're talking to one.

You're not listening to anything I say, except what you want to see.

    Good luck.

I'm running 265 70 r17 and there is a noticeable slowdown on hills. If you're planning on getting larger tires, you can't go much larger than this without re-gearing.

Also if you've go an auto, just drop it into 3 when you need to pick up some speed.
