I ran the Taco in the driveway today until it made the first hint of a sputter. I removed the cluster and set the fuel needle to the bottom of the last mark. I then added 1 gallon to the tank and drove one block to fill up...almost didn't make it...lol. I put exactly 17.003 gallons in and the gauge now still goes a little past the full mark. Good enough for me.

I'll try to set the speedometer needle tomorrow to match my GPS at 60 mph and see how that works for lower speeds. I may still need a gear.

A quick note on the gauge clusters. The original with only fuel, speedometer and temp gauges had a low fuel lens but no bulb location behind it. The circuit board wasn't set up for the fuel light.

The replacement cluster with tach has a circuit board supporting a low fuel light but even with a bulb in it, you'd not see the light because the fuel gauge face doesn't have a window in the correct location. I may mod that at a later date since the correct wire is also in the wiring harness. It would be easy to run wires and a bulb to a vacant slot with no writing and just know that when it lit up, to get fuel. For that matter, I could add a small bulb beside the fuel gauge and leave the circuit board alone.

I hope my son can read the gauge though...my fat fingers weren't meant for those tight spaces:).
