I don’t understand a lot of what you said, (“icons, pinch weld mod, cycle suspension while turning”). I went to a truck lift place and they talked me out of lifting. Now I’m thinking to just keep it stock with maybe a leveling kit and stick with 31” tires. It’s got 220k so it’s prob due for a strut replacement anyhow. That will probably lift it at least an inch.

This is very true. When I went up to 33s (true 33s, 255/85r16) I didn't rub on the street but offroad it was terrible, to the point that I was chewing up my brand new Coopers. I had to do a lot more trimming and cutting to get them to clear, and even then they rubbed offroad.

Eventually I took it in to a proper alignment shop and had them put my caster at 3˚, that eliminated the rubbing once and for all by pushing the tire forward about a half inch more than it was before.

yep, put your caster at 3˚ and you'll be good. You might need to run aftermarket UCAs, I don't know. I have SPCs set to the normal setting and was able to get 3˚ caster, but I think the SPCs give you more caster naturally when you install them.

Depends on where it's rubbing, what wheels you're running, etc... That said, people pretty routinely get zero rub with 33's on a 3" lift.

Just to be clear, you've got a 2nd gen, and your comment about a cab mount chop might be misleading to those with a 1st gen (not a thing for us)...

As far as running more caster, I'm not sure I'd want to deviate from the factory alignment settings unless you are specifically wanting it to handle/steer differently. More or less castor/camber etc... will change how your truck handles, and if all you're doing is trying to get it to not rub the tires, that's not where I'd start.

Where and when does it rub? Often times it's a simply matter of running wheels with the proper backspacing.

like in a parking lot or when the suspension is compressed on a trail?

Something doesn't smell right, with a 6" lift you shouldn't be anywhere near the fender...

    What lift do you have?

but maxtrac spindles throw your front wheels out an inch and a half farther than stock and I think that's why I'm getting rub

Why do you have the spacers? If it's just for looks, ditch them. I personally don't like the idea of ANY spacer, and 1.5" is pretty big...

A bunch of the same stuff everybody else has already done.
I think it depends on specifics like different manufactures too... not all 33” tires are truly 33”, tire width, wheel offset/backspacing. There’s just a lot of variables. Also, a 33” all terrain vs mud terrain will be a factor also.

And for what it’s worth I just did a 3” lift with 285/75/r16s (almost a 33”) all terrains, and I had to do some trimming, hammering. I still have a little more to trim/hit actually... if I had the same size tire in mud terrains I’m willing to bet it would be worse?

They give you 4 in of lift and you keep your stock suspension geometry that's why I have factory upper control arms one day I'll upgrade them though

Oh I gotcha. I know you said spindles, I just had spacers stuck in my head, lol

For the 1st gens, we don't have any lifts (except long travel) that push the wheels out like that. So typically if your wheels are pushed out, it's because of spacers.

I think I'll have to refer you to the 2nd forum then. That's not a thing with 1st gens so I don't really have a solution for you except to cut where it's rubbing.
