    Yes.
That's not one of the codes I've used often. Typically just "QSL?..... QSL..." As both a question, and the response. :)

    Yes.
I don't have all the steps, but I do have a few extra photos of the radios...

This is the only photo I've taken on how I got all of the Coax for my various antennas from inside the cab to the bed area. In this photo the APRS rig, and it's GPS cable are the only two exiting the vehicle.

This is with the driver's seat removed. The HF Radio (Big control head nearest the arm rest)

The Power cable, and Coax both go through a slit in the carpet. Coax heads to the door sill, then to the rear, and out the "vent" in the back wall below the center window. Power goes under the carpet to inside the center console, where it connects to my "radio power" distro blocks
    [IMG]

This image is the bottom of the passenger's seat from prior to cleaning up the wiring on this side.

Now the Coax, Power, and external speaker cables all go through a slit in the floor identical to what's under the driver's seat.
The Coax goes to the center console, and then straight back, under the box under the rear seats, and out the vent. (All of my coax exits through that vent.)

    Yes.
"Mounted" is relative. I hooked the mount through the steel springs, and then zip tied it in place. If that counts.

    Lo
That was always my favorite when working the AUTODIN terminal, and we were a bunch of bored E3s working mid shift just waiting for some jacked up reroute to come through so we could throw that.

Just like the ace of spades when we played hearts from 0200 to 0400.

    "Hey Mike, check this shit!"

    "Aw, man zeebee that fucker!"

    God, that was '89.

Lars, I gotta say nice rig. I've been out of hamming for awhile, but my license is still current (KC8EFM). I wouldn't mind getting into ARES; I loved doing combat comm.

I was 13 in '89. :) Love the new '16 DCLB. I like that the color is nearly SWB to boot.
If you want to get it dirty, Heart of Texas Off Road Club will be at Hidden Falls next weekend. Jan. 15-17 for their Bonfire run. :)

This is about as much flex as I'm going to get without relocating the shocks, and getting something longer.

Minus one radio.... I removed the Kenwood TS-480Sat
    [IMG]

and Installed another radio.... an Icom IC-706 Mk.II G (control head closest to the arm rest)

Which required adding another 2M/70Cm Dual Band Antenna. (Passenger's side of the tool box.)

This brings the total number of Non-Factory antennas added to my mobile antenna farm up to six.
    2x 2m 1/4 wave on the roof
    1x 70cm 1/4 wave on the roof
1x Diamond SG-7700 dual band on the passenger's side tool box
1x HF Whip, and Wolf River Coil on the middle of the tool box
1x CB Antenna on the driver's side tool box.

I have a question for the antenna farmer.

What's the cheapest way for me to get a mobile HAM unit in my truck with a removable faceplate? It needs to be able to receive aviation frequencies (if not all can do that)

    Yes.
Something like the Yaesu FT-7900R ($280) -- http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/fm_txvrs/0790.html or Icom ID-880H ($299) -- http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/fm_txvrs/0880.html plus a dual band mobile antenna will get you what you're looking for. The ID-880H also includes Icom's D-Star digital mode. (which might be popular, depending on where you are.)

I have no idea what a cross band repeater is, but that is a substantial price difference. College budget doesn't allow for much. I'd love to have the comms for emergencies and for future camping trips out in the sticks. Also, being able to listen to airport weather frequencies would be super handy on the way to go flying

If you can live without the "Face must be detachable" there are a LOT of 2m options that can be had for between $50 used, and $150 new. Some of which fit in a single din slot in the dash. :)

I really want a detachable face so that I can mount it in the headliner. I have a double din head unit, so I can't fit a radio there
