While vacationing in Cabo this week I spotted this Hilux. It is a nice looking truck and is definitely more masculine than the previous Hilux, but nowhere near the 3rd Gen Tacoma.

Masculine is not what comes to mind when I see new Hilux's.

Relatively speaking, of course! I agree, not much masculinity here, but just a tad bit more than the previous one.

Funny thing about MX is that you see a lot of 1st and 2nd gen Tacos, presumably brought from the US, but only a few Hilux models, which are actually sold there. I would be slightly surprised to see a 3rd gen there (in Cabo) eventually.

I rented one in Central America last year and attest that it's a reliable stout donkey, and I mean that with affection; but not ideal for the US market.

i've had several Honda's. A CIVIC saved my daughters life one night. We had a couple of Element's which I wasn't fond of, but my late wife and children loved.

The Ridgeline would probably perform the duties I need a truck for, but I don't much like the look. So I would always worry about re-selling it. No such worries for my current 2013 Prerunner.

Slow. Bouncy. Narrow. Bad in the turns. No side SRS (on the rental anyway). But if you're on holiday showering every 3 days and wearing flops all the time, it's great.... Its reliable and bullet proof but it's no Taco.

I've only seen one once and never let alone drove one before. It's interesting to hear opinions on them from people who have actually driven them.

I also had a Prado non turbo diesel on another trip and it was very much nicer. Budget rents them in all over Latin America.
