How does OTT and KDMax 10 compare in these areas? Anyone have insight?

Not sure if it was the latest, but there was a comparison a page or two back..........again just not sure it was the latest KDMax tune.

Im heading to a tune event tomorrow with my truck and trailer, so will be a good time to talk to David from OTT in person.

I was on KDMax Pro for a year. It was a positive Night and Day difference from stock on my truck. My only dig was on normal throttle during low speed driving (stop and go traffic, parking lots) the truck wasn't as smooth and predictable. It was still a Great improvement on my truck. I'm currently on OTT's current tune mild / medium. I made the switch for the second tune when ECT is active and better drivability with cruise control. OTT took "Great" to a more refined level with better throttle modulation at slow speed and a definite feeling of more torque down low. This truck is my daily driver and the mild setting is perfect for my driving style. I have used the Medium setting for towing a utility trailer (3,500 lbs) about 150 miles. Daily driving in Mild and towing with the Medium setting made me realize that OTT was the perfect option for my truck and my driving style. YMMV

It's not hard to figure out why OTT is so much better than the rest. They are professional tuners with experience, who started tuning Tacomas because they saw a growing market. They're not random dudes who started messing with tuning software they got with their canned OVT tunes...like the rest of the people selling you taco tunes.

Got the OTT today. The feeling on the highway is now I can participate on the interstate instead of being the slow hesitant grampa clogging up the roads. Get it and you will never go back to stock. That I guarantee.

I'm very interested in a the best setup for daily driving and for towing my trailer with ATV (only 12-1300lbs) in a hilly/mountainous area. My SUV tows this trailer better than my Tacoma, which is a real disappointment. But, it sure seems like it's fully due to the stock Tacoma tune. I also don't want jumpy throttle response in any way for low speed. That would not be helpful for winter use in the mountains. Or any use really. Wonder if a lite/medium (rather than lite/mild) would be a good option for this?

I would say the throttle settings are aimed for the extra weight of larger, heavy tires as well as added truck gear. My 22 stocker OTT has the light throttle and you can feel the difference from stock, maybe felt more in traffic. Took some getting use ,maybe afew days. Love the truck. Glad it was tuned.

This is EXACTLY why the moderators and admins moved all the tuning threads, to their own sub forum. bickering, bashing, insulting one another. you can support the tuner you like without taking anything away from the other tuners. everyone has their preferred flavor. you dont have to like the others but, there is no need to insult them. that post was classless. Agree. Let's keep this thread civil and smart. No need to let it devolve. There is good info in here.

Not sure where to put this, but I believe the Tacoma’s throttle pedal in general is very hard to modulate going slow. It seems very stiff. And when a tiny force is applied, when in traffic or off-roading the truck wants to lurch. Even with a lite throttle setting, it just doesn’t help much. Almost as if the spring in the throttle assembly needs to be softened. Is there any solution to that?

I heard you can adjust the OTT tune to be lighter off the initial throttle engagement, I'd like a little more "feathering ability" with my light/mild OTT tune and it seemed to diminish slightly after the tune but im stoked with how it is and kinda relearned the timing/pressure needed to not make the truck jump around. Love the tune and have the option to remap the engagement but love it how it is. ETC = medium tune...:headbang:

I’m on ott lite minus but it’s more an issue with the pedal tension

It's not bashing to state that OTT are professional tuners, and the rest are amatuers. It's a fact. One people should know/weigh before making a purchase.

I don't have a tune on my truck...I'm objective. Though I'm guessing you may have a dog in this fight. This the emotional response.

Seems fair enough to me. Let's just tread (extra) cautiously on the language side so the thread keeps going.

There are edits that can be made to eliminate the jumpy throttle without any physical modifications. I have done it for my truck and did it all the time for customers when I was part of a tuning group. It also doesn't require going to another throttle setting.

Good to know. I just really dislike the feel of the stiff throttle.

hybrid tune where starting out the tune is on light mode and as you get going it switches to medium/hard tune. heard this from another user.
