This is 2 weeks of growth in my backyard.

    20200929_154536.jpg

About 4 months ago I left for a vacation for 2 weeks after having not mowed for 2 weeks leaving my lawn ungroomed for 4 weeks total. During that 4 weeks the weeds took over and my grass is gone. Dead. Doneso.

What do I need to do to murder this invasion of my sovereign lawn?

It’s Florida....unless you pay an arm and a leg for St. Augustine and the work to maintain it all you get for grass is a low lying shrub.

I’ve given up and let mine do whatever and cut it once a week depending on rainfall. I don’t like my courtyard lawn during the “winter” when rain isn’t every day and it starts drying up and hibernating but I’m not paying or wasting water to keep my courtyard lawn green..

Depends on the type of grass you had, but I’m willing to bet if you use a quality weed killer to knock it back then your grass will come back. Will just take time.

You could probably till it and plant a bunch of pepper plants, I think down around florida theyll live through the winter and then you get all the peppers you can eat.

Looks pretty cooked so probably till it and reseed with grass seeds if that's your thing. But I'm no expert.

This is a smart idea if your backyard is completely fenced in. They will make quick work in a few days

The weird thing is this is restricted solely to my backyard. My front yard isn't perfect but it is obviously a lawn whereas this can only be described as the beginning of a small jungle.

    Ok seriously.
2-4-D will kill that stuff and not living healthy grass. Weak grass it will kill.
Rent a Claussen HydroPro overseeder, and a Clausen aerator. Seed and aerate in a grid pattern.
Any month with a R in the name is good for seeding.
Use pre-emergant weed killer granules when the soil come back up over 65 degrees in the spring.

I just rent the stuff. My lawn is weeds and grass. I have to many kids and stuff for a pretty lawn.
