    WARNING: Living may cause dying.

I've had people ride in the bed of my truck multiple times. Once while going around 70 on a 35 mph road.

Don't be stupid and you'll be fine. You could say that about everything though..

I think I agree..... if you’re in a wreck you’re going to get hurt somehow...... so if you’re in the bed shure its dangerous but that’s up to the passenger to trust the responsibility of the driver..... And I’m sorry but if a passenger in the bed of a truck is not being carless they can't just fallout..... I mean a truck just won't buck you out of its bed on a moment’s notice!
I stand for riding in the beds!

If you are in a wreck and inside the cab using a SEATBELT you might get a little injured, but if you are UNRESTRAINED in the bed of the truck, there's no doubt about it, you will be seriously injured or killed. You will become a flying projectile. The accident does not have to be the drivers fault, but you will be injured or killed just the same.

Yep agree.. How about riding on a Motorcycle without a helmet on which is legal in most states. If you want to put yourself in a position to kill yourself its your freedom. Thus the choice is yours, in a some-what free society.

Thousands have died from seatbelt use too. Should people use "common sense" and stop using seatbelts because of this? No. Being a responsible person is the key. What if the truck does get in a wreck and the cab is crushed killing everyone inside and the dude in the bed gets thrown from the vehicle - saving his life. Probable not the most likely of situations but its possible. It all depends on the situation, I dont think there's a definitive right and wrong.

It’s a proven fact that seatbelts kill thousands of people (they save more than they kill) But in certain cases seatbelts can kill and by not having them on would be less dangerous..... However the ratio shows wearing them is safer!

I'm not sure what I did to piss you guys off. As a person who posted in both threads, I was saying that letting people ride in the back of a truck is (in my opinion) a bad idea because it's dangerous, but allowing a dog to ride in the back is worth the risk.

A dog's life is not equal to a human's, so I'm willing to take more risks with it for the sake of convenience.

Too fucking bad for you, I guess.

I don't think I was advocating abuse of animals. And my dog rides restrained in such a way that she won't become a danger to any other drivers.

someone who drives drunk, now thats someone I would consider an IDIOT. someone who views their dog as practically human, how the hell does that qualify as idiocy? or any other animal for that matter...

I think there is a range of idiocy, and our definitions differ. I bet there are a lot of things I would consider idiotic that you wouldn't, as I'm sure there are things you consider idiotic that I think are perfectly normal.
