Speculate all you want but I've owned both, longbed is much more functional than the shortbed ever was.

Have never wished the longer bed was shorter.

Just because you can fill a LB full of shit doesn't mean you'll max out the payload. All depends what kind of shit you're filling it with.

The decision of which length bed to get basically comes down to personal preference.

Maybe I should just buy two trucks and make myself a LB with a manual transmission. Lol.

I came from a 2500hd duramax ecsb and I have no regrets yet. Granted for our camping trip we do every summer I'm worried about space. But having the double cab will help and I just purchased a soft topper for those type of trips to insure storage and being easily removable is a plus.

    Like, so many.
I've had both. I could definitely haul more in the lb, but I haven't missed it much yet. I may at some point, but not yet.

I do. I had a medium size bed on my F150 then to a short bed that was still longer then my Tacos bed. I miss the having the bigger bed. I wish i would have found a long bed But when off roading the SB is better.

I think the SB is better OR than an LB possibly when rock crawling or maybe on real tight trails. Otherwise, mehhhhh. LB all day is better at doing everything on and off road. And I'm not rubbing a $40k truck up against rock or trees at this time in its life.

That SB won't hold 3 cubic yards. At best maybe a yard and a quarter.

I see your tail gate is up hauling your loose shit so yes it makes a difference when up or down.

Since mulch, tree limbs, yard debris are typically lighter than dirt I can get more material in safely and still keep the tail gate up while the backup camera remains fully functional when reversing to unload. That my friend is a big advantage to your stubby little box.

Shortbeds are easy to find, dealerships are full of them. Longbeds not so much because they're more desirable and usually sell more quickly where I'm at.

I miss my long bed, for sure. But... I would only get a long bed with an AC personally. I got kids now so I needed the DC, and the manual transmission was way more important to me than a LB, which is why I ended up with a DCSB. I can still haul dirt bikes, surfboards, camping equipment and all that. The last big camping trip I did I needed a trailer, though.

My main reason for missing the long bed is fitting surf boards longer than 6'3" in my bed under the tonneau cover. That is about it honestly. But like everyone is saying, you need to figure out what is most important for your lifestyle.

Came from a 2nd gen DCSB with bed extender to a 3rd gen DCLB- prefer the LB for 90% of my driving and use. The SB will fit on the trails better but I hit the trails only 4-5 times a year which my truck can still do. I use my truck to daily drive and do general work like haul stuff (firewood, etc) the extra bed space is nice and having the tailgate shut is also great so stuff doesn't risk coming out. Lifted/ larger tires I think the LB look great as do SB. The SB looks more proportionate stock height vs LB. Its all personal preference, If you use you bed often the LB is great.

Nah could have thrown bed extender in and lined with a tarp then hauled more
