LBJ bolt questions

    Have you guys that have done your LBJs replaced the 4 bolts (Part# 90080-10066) when you did the LBJ? Thought mine would come with hardware but didn't, and getting them will be difficult at best locally unless someone has dimensions that I can go to a fastener store with. :deadhorse:

    Reused the bolts. Add a little controled strength thread lock when installing.

    Magnuson Kompressor, OME lift kit, JBA Headers, junky Sony radio.
    Yep, Did the same thing. A little blue locktite or Permatix thread lock ( blue ) and all is good. Just make sure you torque them to spec.

    Thanks guys. I've seen too many horror stories on here to take any chances. What's the torque spec? Low range off road videos say 39 but everyone else says 59?

    59 is the proper torque spec. I replaced all my bolts when changing the lower ball joints as I had a failure in the past. I recommend marking the bolts with a paint pen so it's easy to check if they've loosened up.

    Off the top of my head, I think the bolts are M10x1.50x45. Can't guarantee that's right, but spent a lot of time trying to source them in grade 10.9 locally when I had my failure.

    Gross. Probably all loosened up and the strain snapped them off.
    Good way to destroy an entire front end, including fenders.

    Hardest way to learn is the best way. Bend the fender slightly, and took out a tire and a CV.

    just got a simple lift on her
    I have broken a few.
    I would use new bolts and lock tight.
    Old bolts are prone to coming loose as the threads are likely stretched.
    I used old bolts for a while, and they kept coming loose every time i would go offroad.

    No, mine was purely my fault. Due to reusing bolts and/or improper torque. A toyota tech I know says loc-tite is not necessary, just new bolts and torque them right. When I did them last I put some blue loc-tite on, and marked the bolt heads, and check them fairly regularly to see if they move.

    I have 103 for the LBJ castle nut and 67 for the TRE nut. Is this correct?

    Well the truck drives great now and was an easy job. Figured out a nice trick to get the studs out. Used a bottle jack and jacked up on the stud and lifted it an inch or two. Then hit the side of it with a hammer and it popped out with just a few hits. Hope it helps anyone that hasn't done it yet.
