Thank you everyone for your advice. Friend with a welder is on the way.

I found an 02 tacoma 4cyl 4x4 in the junkyard that has both knuckles. Toyotapartsdeal says that they are a different part number for its vin but also says they will fit my vin. Does that sound right?

Pretty sure it was a 12x1.25

Yeah, mine were different lengths. I think it depends on which BJs you end up with. Mine are 555's.

You can check just by taking the bolts you got from gunny down to your neighborhood Ace Hardware and use their thread checker thing.

Big box stores have those too I think, but I like Ace, they have a better bolt selection.

Went down and made sure, but the one that came out and the ones from Gunny were M10x1.25.

Tried welding on nuts with no luck today. Nuts just twisted right off. Haven't found anyone with the acetylene torch. Hard part about moving to a new city, gotta refind all the connections! Also, the non-abs steering knuckle won't work..womp

Try car-part.com to find parts in a local junkyard.

Is the 4 cylinder knuckle different or are you dead set on keeping the ABS? Heads up if you are... good luck getting the sensors out of the knuckles.

An oxy-acetylene torch will heat those up and they will come out. I’d weld a nut on there, make sure it’s a quality weld (full bead). And heat the broken bolt up until they are cherry red and they will turn out. Soak them in PB blaster for a couple days ahead of time. Luckily you have some threads exposed.

I have a 12x1.25 in my tap drawer, thought that was it. I must have the tap I actually used somewhere else, sorry about that. :anonymous:

In the pic you posted looks like you might be able to get 2 nuts on there and tighten them against each other.

Get a map gas torch at home depot or Ace or something. Those work pretty good.

Going to give it one more go tonight but was able to find a sequoia hub and knuckle and from all my research and comparing part numbers with the local Toyota parts guy, everything seems to be the same.

The only thing that’s different is the backing plate for the brake rotor.

It will make your upgrade to tundra brakes easier, if you do desire the upgrade

That is good to know. Another yard has an 01 tundra knuckle and hub.

Is it ok to assume that the ubj is the same as my tacoma.

Also would a 96 4runner hub and spindle work thst has abs and an add? Just want to have options in case the tumdra / sequoia parts are mangled.

    Thanks!

You have add right? If so yes the runner ones will work too.

there are process's out there that can remove the broken bit in the housing. A decent machine shop will either have the equipment or know who does. The frustration of dealing with this for one bolt is one thing, more than that it isnt. I would take it to the guys who do this every day.
