LCA bushing help

    Yeah.
    ^ Yeah, aftermarket LCA's with bushings pre-installed is the way I would go.

    Random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
    For anyone tackling the LCA bushings, pre soaking with lube, heat and pressure will be your friend. Using the sleeve of the old one you remove can be used to remove the one you have installed now.

    Had to deal with similar issues when I went to replace my LCA bushings a few years ago. Turns out in my case, I had two different LCAs installed on the truck, so my bushing kit only fit one of the LCAs. I ultimately went with aftermarket LCAs with pre-installed bushings just to get back on the road with known hardware (also had the advantage of pre-installed ball joints too to save a little more work down the road).

    I'd bet one of the old employee's has some nice specialty tools at home in their garage or tool box. Good luck figuring this all out, and hope you get the truck back on the road soon.

    After another midday harbor freight run I was able to get everything figured out. I took a piece of an older bearing that was just slightly too large and ground it down to the right thickness with the angle grinder. I was able to use it to start to push the bearing out then was able to push directly on the rubber to move it out the rest of the way. The bushing was a little damaged, some small rips that didn’t go all the way through the bushing but it’s good enough so I put it back in the correct way. Then I got the little adapter plate separated from the control arm and put the new Moog ball joint in. Got everything buttoned up and then did my alignment.

    I guess I finally figured out why my master tech laughed at me when I told him what I was planning on doing. I’m probably gonna wait a week or two before doing the other side, I need some time to recover mentally from this :rofl:

    This why I just bought OEM LCAs through McGerorge. Did shocks, springs, LCAs, UCAs, sway bar links, and tie rods ends in a afternoon.
