LCA Bushings are squeaking like crazy...

I replaced my lower control arm bushings with Whiteline poly bushings about 3 months ago.

I know with rubber, you just install and enjoy.

Poly requires lubricating,etc.

When I took everything apart, I used all the grease provided in all the required areas and reassembled everything.

Steering became, and still feels nice and tight. Alignment is good. These are things I expected with new LCA bushings.

Problem is, everything squeaks like a mother fucker, even when I lightly press the brake if the vehicle is moving at even 1/2mph.

I'm contemplating removing my LCA's and going with OEM bushings, unless someone has a good way to get in there and lubricate the Whiteline bushings that are installed? And also, what type of lubricant lasts the longest?

Grease em up real nice and goopy with some SuperLube. They'll be more maintenance than rubber bushings from a noise POV

 

Let me add; I've tried the PBlaster dry ptfe stuff and it didn't quiet anything down.

I also tried some dry Teflon stuff.

 

So you're suggesting I take it all apart again

 

if those didn't work no sense trying other lubes, if they worked any should of been a notable difference in the sqeak

 

Yup, they have to be greased up super goopy initially. Like downright making a mess with the stuff in between every part.

Expensive, yes, but worth it. It's the same type of grease that comes in the tiny "ketchup packages" when you get new bushings. It's thicker than hell and ultra, mega, super duper water proof. So much that it's actually really hard to get off your hands when you're done and trying to clean up. This is key because that means it'll stay put wherever you put it and not weep or melt away and certainly wont wash off during rainy season or submersion. It's so thick that it's actually hard to squeeze through a standard grease gun BTW.

Are the poly bushings the ones that move in the control arm unlike the OEM rubber bushings? Or am I thinking of the main eye leaf bushings vs poly instead?

Just curious cause if it's the same as the leaf spring ones then the right grease makes all the difference. Some kind of silicone grease like Superlube, Energy suspension or Daystar grease will be needed.

Too bad they aren't greasable like the leaf bolts can be, sounds like they gotta come apart again

My oem rubber ones quiet down just with some silicone spray but I guess that won't be sufficient for the poly bushings

 

I use Superlube for most things on the truck, but for problem areas that I don't want to or cant get to easily enough to maintain as often, I like to use Prothane Super Grease (linked above). Totally different animals and each has its place, IMO.

 

Without side tracking too much; is this the same stuff you told me about on the phone?

I want to tackle the squeak in my LCA's first, especially since some of the noise was tamed from the rear when I put Red N Tacky on the plastic discs/pads between my leaf springs.

 

I mentioned Superlube (thinner viscosity) when we spoke. I rarely mention Supergrease (thicker, greasier) to people because it's one of those things I rarely pull out of the toolbox. Superlube does the trick 99% of the time for me anyway.

 

Ordered Supergrease specifically for the Whiteline's; I figured I'll purchase OEM bushings for the extra LCA's and take apart the one's that are on my truck, and lube with Supergrease.

If I fuck something up, because murphy's law, I'll have a set to go back on with new OEM bushings. If all goes well, I'll have LCA's to sell that are ready to go.

 

And I'll probably end up buying them rather than dealing with removing my old ones lol

How do you not have uneven wear in your tires

 

I really don't know if they're bad or not, my alignments are always good they just make a lot of noise. Might just be the first sign of them going IDK.

Never had the alignment techs tell me anything about them but next time I'll ask them what they think

 

Just when I thought the list was growing smaller -

-Front bumper OR hidden winch
-Rear shock relocation
-Winch

and that's all that was left for my truck.

Now I've got to tackle something I've done before already.
