Steering rack? you mean CV? I've orientated my front cam bolts to pull out the front and the rear cam bolts to pull out to the rear.

Well for me I had to loosen the steering rack to move it up a bit so I could slide the cam bolts out from the rear part of the LCA toward the back of the truck in order to get them out. That's how i've known to do it and what i've read a lot of others do too.
Never thought about trying to put them in another way.

I oriented mine the other way as well and because of that, I was able to undo my LCA's, push out my bushings, and use a whole small tub of Superlube @GHOST SHIP recommendation.

The front end of my truck is now absolutely quiet.

All that's left is finding out what size bushing my OME Dakar uses up front, press out the stock one, lube the shit out of the new one and put it all back together.

So you chased down the sound successfully? Nice! Dakar uses a standard size bushing. I’ve had a wheelers bushing in there but you can also get the yellow one from OME or red from Energy suspension. If you can hang on till we install your sliders, I have spare bushings in the shop.

    I can definitely wait.

In the meantime, I'm rebuilding my manual hubs so I have a spare set as part of my 4x4 conversion.

When are you headed down here to do your sliders? If @GHOST SHIP doesn't mind maybe I can swing by and we can grab a beer in town, and maybe I can get started on my bumper wrap around too lol

Think he's starting them this weekend :welder:

How far is the drive you think? 6 hours? Or is he closer to me than you are?

So I actually prepped an extra set of LCA's; I pressed out the old bushings using the bottle jack method, and wire wheeled the shit out of the inner sleeve to get rid of the rust/paint.

New sleeves slid in like nothing, so on installation day, I smothered the inner sleeve as well as the bushings themselves with all the grease Whiteline gives you.

Maybe the grease they provide isn't all that great, or it is and I got a bad batch.

Regardless, I pulled the bushings yesterday and used an entire small bottle of Superlube.

Overheating would suck, but that whine though.

Idk how Ryan doesn't have a hard on every time he hits the throttle on his truck :anonymous:

I've got the yellow OME bushings in the rear of my Dakar's as well; the rears make minimal noise. Where the majority of the noise comes from is the front bushing that OME presses in. That's the one that'll get replaced.

If that's a 2nd gen, then you're in the wrong section.
