LCE + catback is obnoxiously noisy

First of all, I'm so glad I found this website. Y'all are a wealth of wisdom.

A year ago, I ordered the LCE Headers, Magnaflow cat, and LCE Catback w/ the Magnaflow muffler on my 3RZ. In retrospect, I realize my silliness. The truck is obnoxiously loud, and I don't wanna be the guy waking the neighbors up.

I think I'll keep the headers, but ditch the 2.5" Magnaflow catback, and replace with a 2.25" pipe going into a good noise-reducing muffler. (Isn't the stock pipe diameter for the 2.7 2.25"?)

I'm thinking of reducing the pipe diameter after the cat because I rarely rev to high RPMs. This is mostly a farm truck. I know there's a big debate about backpressure and exhaust gas velocity yadda yadda... My question is, will a .25" smaller diameter pipe be more optimal for driving around in the lower RPMs?

Also, any suggestions for good mufflers that'll keep noise to a minimum?

    I appreciate the input!

Do you know which magnaflow muffler you have? There's about 5 different ones.

It came with the LCE Pro Flow kit. It states a straight through design on the site

The LCE Proflow catback sounds great on my 3RZ, not loud at all.

I think it's close to 2.25. I don't think it's worth changing pipe size, just get a different muffler.

Note that the headers make it much louder in the cab. Not necessarily to wake your neighbors, but quite a bit louder driving. The OEM manifold is cast iron for excellent sound deadening. Headers are bent tube and do not deaden the sound. I put headers on my Toyota pickup years ago, I personally like a quieter cab and wouldn’t do it again.

Interesting! My cast iron manifold cracked a while ago, but I never thought about the sound deadening properties

I just returned the Magnaflow cat I bought at o’Reillys yesterday direct fit,
Sounds horrible, whole cab resonated evertime I accelerated on my 3.4.
Also lost a bunch of power above 4000 rpms.

Maybe it’s louder for you with the V6 standard cab, my xtra cab four banger is pretty mellow even at 75mph down the highway.

Yeah, it may be beneficial to add some sound deadener to the firewall and footwells.

I love my magnaflow. I think it's the 14" one? not sure though. I still have a factory cat, but also have the "mini-headers" from the CA emissions 3rz tacos. I think it sounds great from the outside, and is pretty mild on the inside but you can still hear it when you really get on it. It's the perfect balance for me.
Not sure about the LCE headers though. Since there isnt a heat shield on top of it, im sure the headers themselves produce a decent amount of noise.
