    Hello,
I'm writing a review (to the best of my ability) based on my experience with the LCE Engineering 2RZ short shifter (part number 1097000). I bought this for my 99' Toyota Tacoma which has a 2RZ with a W59 5 spd. I have had the short shifter installed for about 3 months now with consistent driving.
    Pros:
    • You can definitely notice the difference as you change gears upon installing it. It feels great and the throw isn't as long and definitely some slop is eliminated.
    • It's fairly easy to install. However, one of the issues is that you have to make sure that the set screws for the adapter are properly installed with the red loctite that is provided and that the set screws are hammered down with a punch to ensure that they don't become loose over time and fall into the transmission. Also, the new shifter seat makes you have to use some strength to install the shift lever, but nothing crazy is involved and you don't need a massive tool set to install it or a grand amount of space.
    • It's well made.
    • It's decently priced (imo).
    • LCE Engineering has great customer service.
    • It's a convenient mod to do to make your Tacoma feel more comfortable.
    Cons:
    • One of the consequences that I can could potentially see from the short shifter is that if someone has really high expectations for the short shifter, then they might be disappointed. You can definitely notice the difference and it feels great when you first drive it upon installing the shifter. But, the shifter doesn't feel as if you're shifting in a first gen Scion XB or second gen Toyota MR2 (I've driven both and I definitely enjoy or enjoyed their shifter feel more compared to my Tacoma).
    • Some people might feel that the 99.95 price tag isn't worth it for a piece of billet aluminum, a paper gasket, 6 bolts and washers, shifter seat, and an adapter with red loctite. But, I don't regret buying it and I definitely believe it holds its worth. I would like to try the Marlin Crawler short shifter one day though. But, if you're looking for a convenient mod, then the LCE Engineering short shifter is something worthy of checking out.
    Overall Rating:
    9/10
